Comments of ego on Laird are spot on. Confidence in oneself can reflect an egotism that most people simply judge as an undesirable characteristic, and yet... Confidence is how this man revolutionized a sport before all others, while making changes in his life to bring balance within love of Family. Hats off and soulful smile to accomplishment for Mr & Mrs Hamilton.

Good god, clearly you're not terribly smart. "Good at stuff"??? Laird is a narcissist: a pathological narcissist. His entire life is about being admired by others, which is the modus operandi of every pathological narcissist like Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Donald Trump, Kanye West and many more.assholes like them. They live their entire lives driven to achieve just so other people will admire them.... They lack empathy for others (not unlike a psychopath). They're they worlds' walking douchebags who are entirely self-centered. .....and it's all because their parents didn't love and take care of them before the age of 5 that their brain development was negatively impacted and warped their personality and moral compass. We don't "admire" people like this....we feel sorry for them because they have no inner sense of genuine self-worth and they are desperate to cover that up by over-achieving in as a mean to overcompensate for the fact that their parents never loved them. They're entirely selfish and self-serving. There is nothing to admire about being self-serving. What is admirable and respectable is kindness....altruism....true courage to help others (not the drive to win a surfing competition).....and spending one's life being a genuinely decent human being. Of course, you may be a narcissist yourself, which is probably why you believe "being good a stuff" is admirable. LOL That sounds like some pathetic world view a narcissist would have. Let me guess, you didin't have a father growing up?

Graham did a decent job here, don't get me wrong, but the classic interview format, where one person (guest) should be authentic and honest while the other person (interviewer) tries to stay "objective" and keep his own personality out of the conversation as much as he can has just become sooo outdated its barely even watchable anymore.

It's always about them boosting their ever-deflating and flailing brittle ego and she felt special by him abandoning his own wife and child, that's just how psychologically and morally fucked up she (and other narcissists like her) are. She's a narcissist (like most athletes) and lacking in empathy for others as he is. This is a highly self-serving, selfish, unempathic couple who have spent their lives in pursuit of "winning". Narcissists are not worthy of respect or admiration when you dig below the surface and recognize they're pathetic self-absorbed people without an altruistic bone in their body. Beauty and talent and shallow pursuits (and I say that as a female who is very talented and beautiful and still recognizes that means absolutely nothing if I don't also have empathy for others and a healthy degree of altruism and being a human who considers how my actions might impact others). The rest of us would know that it's wrong to abandon your infant to move across the ocean and move in with someone we only met a week earlier because we would recognize that a child deserves better than that and that abandoning them so young will forever negatively impact the development of their infant brain. Laird is a narcissist....a pathological narcissist who is incapable of loving anyone, including his own children.
