Lagos, Watch This Before You Write-off Nigeria

Nigeria, Africa's largest economy, is facing significant economic challenges in recent months, characterized by a sharp decline in the value of its currency, the Naira.
Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, serves as a microcosm of the nation's economic dynamics. It is a bustling metropolis, home to vibrant business activities, diverse cultural heritage, and a burgeoning population. However, beneath its surface lies a complex economic reality shaped by domestic and global forces.
Recent developments in Nigeria's monetary policy landscape, including upward interest rate adjustments and substantial bill auctions by the central bank, have sparked optimism among local and international financial experts.
Lagos, often dubbed the "economic nerve center" of Nigeria, epitomizes the country's economic vibrancy and diversity. As Africa's largest economy, Nigeria boasts a wealth of natural resources, a burgeoning population, and a strategic geographical location. However, alongside these strengths lie structural constraints, fiscal imbalances, and socio-economic disparities that require targeted interventions to unleash its full potential.
Nigeria GDP: Nigeria's GDP stands as one of the largest in Africa, driven primarily by the oil and gas sector. However, efforts to diversify the economy have gained momentum, with sectors such as telecommunications, banking, agriculture, and manufacturing playing increasingly significant roles in driving growth and employment.
Population Dynamics: With a population exceeding 200 million people, Nigeria boasts a large and youthful demographic dividend. While presenting opportunities for labor supply and consumer markets, demographic pressures also underscore the need for robust social infrastructure, education, and healthcare systems to harness human capital potential.
Infrastructure Challenges: Lagos, as the epicenter of economic activity, grapples with infrastructural deficits, particularly unreliable power supply. Addressing these challenges is crucial for enhancing productivity, attracting investment, and fostering sustainable urban development.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Lagos, in particular, has emerged as a hotspot for entrepreneurship and innovation, with a vibrant startup ecosystem and a burgeoning tech scene. Leveraging the creativity and ingenuity of its youth population, Nigeria has the potential to drive innovation-led growth and foster a culture of entrepreneurship conducive to sustainable development.
Future Growth: Nigeria remains an attractive destination for foreign investment, buoyed by its abundant natural resources and market potential. However, concerns around regulatory uncertainties, security risks, and bureaucratic hurdles continue to dampen investor sentiment, highlighting the importance of improving the business environment and governance frameworks.

Every time I see a video like this, I can't help but envy the progress of Lagos with its majestic skylines, massive infrastructure, elevated railway, authentic markets, bridges, world class malls, and CBD, the stunning land mark beach and most of all the luxurious estates as well as the welcoming aura of the people. Indeed, Lagosians are one of the friendliest people in the world. If given a chance I wish to visit Nigeri someday. I hope we can have this remarkable progress too in the near future. Love and respect to Nigeria. 😊👍🙏👏😮

Hopefully that 'right' leader will never be that ridiculously overrated, sickeningly over-celebrated, and badly packaged Agulu chancer. Cry all they want, Peter Obi will never be the president. Our Igbo brothers and sisters can do all the propaganda in the world, guilt trip and gaslight us all they want, Peter Obi will never be the president. As it is, some of us will rather Nigeria break up this minute than to see the bumbling upstart as the president. And talking about the 'right' leader who will "silence a lot of external hate and internal division", a great many of us are intelligent enough to know for certain that will definitely not be Peter Obi, the closet tribal chauvinist. Our Igbo people, please keep doing your propaganda, keep defaming Nigeria, keep spreading negative propaganda about Nigeria in every possible way, please double your efforts a thousand times more, cry and throw your toys out of the pram, the fact is, we here are laughing at your amateurish machinations. It's great fun to watch your weepy frustration and the zany desperation. You all make good entertainment for us.

Lagos is coming up in terms of a city that has a blend of old and new high-rise structures embellished by upscale, urbane and magnificent residential estates and neighbourhoods. Our problem in Nigeria is just leadership, having visionary governors and presidents who diligently and selflessly show capacity to transform our cities and the people living in them. We have no reason to migrate to other climes in search of greener pastures. We are a blessed nation with enviable human and natural resources.

Disgusting! Old habits die hard! That being said, I like the look of the Parkview Astoria Hotel in Ikoyi, 4 nights in November go for £167 in total. That's awesome value! Lagos hotels used to be notoriously expensive but now things seem to be looking better for visitors to the city. The hotel website shows a lovely couple entering the hotel, especially the lady. @@Afro_Conservative_Strikes_Back Well from my own life's experience , my observation is that be it with personal wealth or in a nation's development, there is no terminal, no final bus stop! People would always want to amass wealth, just as nations would always continue to surge forward with science and technology! In Nigeria, there is minimal generational wealth! In other words, We don't have too many families who have been millionaires and billionaires for generations! Some of the richest people today, came from humble beginnings, if not outright poverty!! I don't remotely ascribe to rich people being responsible for the poor! Although there are many instances in life , particularly in Nigeria, where people with money do help others! But it is NOT a written rule, and the rich should not be forced or badgered or be held responsible for the poor! The so called "less privileged" are not simpletons or disabled ! If anything, let the life of the wealthy be an inspiration to others, in that, if they can do it, so can the rest of us! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!

You people don't know a shit about Nigeria. Because of our enormous population, we don't create one clustered CBD in a city. We scatter development/CBD to different districts far away from one another. In Nigerian, it's always a small development here, and a small development there and a small development everywhere. This is to ensure that people don't head towards one direction during rush hours. Despite this, we still have heavy traffic in Nigeria, especially in Lagos. Let alone we have all the businesses and sky scrappers clustered together in adjoining districts, which you guys termed as beauty. Thus, Nigerian cities are not like the CBD in Nairobi, Joburg etc. If we do as they did, we will shoot ourselves on the foot. Eg, in Lagos, development/CBD is scattered all round the local governments. If development are clustered together, the traffic gridlock will be chaos. Thus, we have little development in Victoria Island, little development in CMS marina, little development in Ikoyi, little development in Lekki, little development in Ikeja, little development in Surulere, little development scattered everywhere. If all Lagos developments are clustered together, even Joburg will not stand Lagos in highrise and beauty. Though a clustered development is about taking place in Eco Atlantic, in Lagos, but it is only thought of because the airport and other modern facilities/utilities are being constructed in Lagos islands to support such clustered city when developed.

Well Lagos is not going to hold back its own development just because other cities/states in the *federation* have other priorities that seem more important than building up their states. You would find that the Makoko and those other informal neighborhoods which constitute the eyesore that you all love to use for hectoring us and in some cases, exploit to ridicule Lagos and make money off KZread posting those poorly made contents maligning Lagos everyday, are mainly created and occupied by *non-indigenes* of Lagos who flood in daily to Lagos for better economic opportunities from all over Nigeria and even from other West African countries. If other state governments in Nigeria are half as effective and purposeful as the Lagos State government in other parts of the country, maybe we will not have a reason where every man and his dog rush to Lagos to constitute the nuisance and eyesore which 'smart' folks like you are always so quick to talk about whenever Lagos happens to be the subject. If the northern states are not so preoccupied with banditry, religious extremism and sharia, and the eastern part of the country are not so poor at running their states and their badly educated people are not focusing so much on crime as a lifestyle, then maybe, just maybe, we as a federation, might just be able to "do better things for citizens" of Nigeria.
