For people with anxiety issues, Pioneer Village can be very useful. When it all becomes overwhelming, you can walk into one of the exhibits towards the back like the circus exhibit. A lot of people aren't so aware of them so it's quiet and relaxing. I've done it, and I'd suggest it for families with younger children.

I am so happy that Cannibal has finally helped to give this place the recognition it deserves! It is my home park and I had no clue how good it was until I went to other places. I’ve been to several parks across the country and few can hold a candle to this one. Lagoon’s unique coaster collection, the fast and friendly operations, Frightmares, and many other things make this one of my favorite parks. I may have home park bias but this review finally made me realize how much I love this place. I have been looking forward to this review ever since I found your channel because of how well you research before you make a video. I am also super happy that someone loves this place. Thank you so much for this amazing review!!

@@pagejames8754 I agree, entry price has gotten excessive lately. I couldn't imagine bringing a family here from out of state when its cost is near or equal to Disneyland's. Season pass really is the only way to go, just go 5 times and you've brought that ticket cost down to what it was well over a decade ago. Maybe if they could do better theming, not just ride specific theming but general area to make it a theme park instead of merely an amusement park, I would think it'd be a better value for out of state families to visit. The log flume and rattle snake rapids area was about the only area with shared themes between rides, and they were still tearing the log flume out last time I went.

I am a rides supervisor here at Lagoon (I'm actually in the video at 4:04). Lagoon takes extensive measures to make sure all employees are working efficiently and being friendly to all guests. We have a team of supervisors that observe all operators twice daily and correct any issues. Our supervisors are also monitored by management and trained on how to take care of our operators and ensure the safe and efficient operation of our rides.

Lagoon's dark rides were designed by the legendary Bill Tracy. He designed more dark rides than anyone. I believe lagoon is the only park where you can experience both of his trademark endings. Another great tip for “free” parking is you can take the front runner, or even just drive to the Farmington Front Runner station (just across the highway from the park). You can park for free and there’s a free Lagoon bus shuttle that comes every 15-30 minutes. I’ve had a season pass for 9 years and often use this method!

@pagejames8754 locals love to complain about the price when they could just get a season pass and go twice and it would pay for itself. Not only that but you can bring your own food and drinks in which no other park in the country allows. Which then saves a family probably $50-$100 each visit. Gets so annoying hearing people complain about price when if they used their brain they'd realize it's actually not expensive. It's expensive for people who aren't very bright..

My grandfather Dal Freeman was the head engineer over Wicked and Cannibal, he’s retired now but he was one of the most influential people to this park. It should be noted that Dave Freed has passed away and now it is in the hands of his daughter. The new ride Primordial is on its way soon, but right now they’re having issues with the ride cars building up static electricity and interfering with the onboard systems. The tiger is on the way to Pioneer Village, Deer and Kangaroos are by the south Sky Ride station, for example. Although I don't really pay much attention to the animal section since I'm not a fan of it. There are some free roaming peacocks and peahens that like to hang around Pioneer Village or Speedway Jr, and sometimes they'll have chicks. But please do not chase or try to touch them! They are still animals who will defend themselves or get territorial. Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City had to cage theirs because of this.

I moved to Northern Utah about 10 years ago and am so glad Lagoon is not very far away. I love the small park feel and the lines to the coasters are so close together. You can ride multiple coasters in a single day with few long waits. I’m sooo excited for Primordial to open. Cannibal is probably in my top 5 if not top 3 favorite coasters ever. Quick queue, comfortable cars, and intense ride. The food options are pretty average but it’s really nice to be able to bring your own food in to the park. Plus it’s not far from an outdoor mall with tons of options too. I kinda wish there was tram or Underground Railroad to Station Park just on the other side of the freeway. I loved Lagoon! I was fortunate enough to visit on a cloudy drizzly day in August. I didn’t have to wait for anything. Jet Star 2 and Bombora were sadly closed, but that’s just a reason to go back. I’m a little older than some enthusiasts at 42 and I don’t regularly session rides. Bombora is one of the best family/kiddie coasters I've ever ridden, an extremely smooth and comfortable ride with lightly forceful helices and some fun audio (Surfin' USA). Jet Star is fun enough for what it is, but even as someone who's ridden Whizzer a bunch and is used to the Schwartzkopf inline seating it was still fairly uncomfortable, and the force on the low turns gave me a few moments of cramping; still worth getting a ride in on it though!

When I was a kid, we’d go to Lagoon at least once a summer. Local businesses will offer Lagoon discount tickets for shopping there, so that’s what we’d do. I never really knew how good Lagoon was until I visited other parks in other states. It really is a gem! The roller coaster used to be painted white, so for years we called it the White Roller Coaster. I actually miss that paint job. Also, the two haunted rides - the Terroride and Draculas Castle - are absolutely TERRIFYING. Whatever haunted houses you’ve been to, multiply it by 20. But I will say that even just driving by the park on the freeway is exciting. Makes me want to go back - it’s been a long time. And you’re right about the food. But we always brought our own picnic lunch and drinks, so I never really worried about the food being a bit “meh.” I was always too busy riding all the rides!

2:19 Another method of accessing the park is via UTA's FrontRunner Commuter Train. Farmington has a bus from their train station to Lagoon's parking lot which will drop you off much closer than the bus to downtown. By using the FrontRunner, Lagoon is much easier to access if you have a limited amount of time in Salt Lake. At North Temple Station, you can transfer to a light rail train directly to the airport. Using UTA also helps to avoid overpaying for parking at Lagoon.

It really is an underrated gem of a park. And it's very beautiful, especially the Midway under the giant old trees, with the grass and flowers. It's not winning any huge awards but it holds it's own for an eclectic mix of rides that are all solid and decent. Even the old school dark rides are classic examples of the genre and just stupid fun. The water park is decent as well. It's a great park for families as for the most part the rides aren't too crazy for younger members to ride and serves as a great introduction to roller coasters. The Coaster is a classic and an extremely fun woodie. Good mix of carnival/fair style rides as well. It really is just a good park. Great rundown of the coasters. Coaster is just awesome. A simple layout that is extremely effective. Bamborra is shockingly fun... and the glass smoothness of that ride is something that really stands out. Especially in the left/right section toward the end. I love that Lagoon has taken on not only the design but also the fabrication of their rides. They put a lot of work and pride into them and they take care of them very well. And Colossus has a ridiculous dispatch speed. By the time you get seated you're already departing. They are absolutely amazing at ride operations at Lagoon.

One thing to note about Jet Star. There is very little head rest. If you are in the back seat and are caught unaware or unprepared, the g-forces on the initial drop and subsequent loops WILL pull your head uncomfortably and potentially dangerously far back. Happened to me in 2015. As I was looping, my head got snapped back. I genuinely thought my neck was about to snap. When I was finally freed from the loop, I pulled my head back up and heald onto it for the rest of the ride. I was okay, but if I leaned by head back, it felt... odd. Hard to describe. Like it wanted to lul back and remain in that position. I didn't complain to the operator, and I enjoyed the remainder of the day. No ill effects happened. Just that continued lulling head sensation. I haven't gone on Jet Star since, though. Just be careful on those older rides everyone

East Farmington has a Spanish place on the middle corner of main street and West Farmington has station park, a place on 1525 North called "The Carriage Establishment" that does carriage rides and has a kiddie train, and a wetlands bird conservation. during Halloween, there's a farm out near the wetlands that does some events as well. nothing crazy, though.

A couple of points to add to your info! There is a "park n ride" lot with free parking over in Station Park (a great place to grab lunch for extra variety of options), just across the freeway where you can catch a shuttle to and from Lagoon. The Pioneer Village isn't just a recreation of a pioneer era town, some of the stuff there is real, from the buildings to various artifacts! Great for history buffs! (and for cooling down in the hot summer months) A lot of people don't know that Lagoon used to have live action western shoot out performances in the Pioneer Village! (I personally wish they would bring them back, because they used to do cool stunts off the watertower). The Pioneer Village is (reportedly) haunted, so if you visit keep an eye out for ghosts! (My dad used to work the shoot out performances, and he and his other show buddies hid in the park overnight after closing one night, and at the time, they saw an apparition of a ghostly woman in the parlor. Scared the bejeebus outta them!) There is a nice walking trail on the back of the theme park where you can see some buffalo.

If not for the fact that they build their coasters in house and they're currently busy with Primordial I'd put this park as a dark horse candidate to get the first S&S Axis, given their proximity to the S&S headquarters in Logan. I think this and Silverwood are the two parks most distant from any other major ones, but Silverwood is by far the harder of the two to get the credits for if you don't live nearby.

I heard when Lagoon put in Rocket built by S&S in the early 2000s, their relationship turned sour, hence the reason that one of the three towers is empty of a ride experience (rumor, not confirmed). I live in Utah, and get a season pass almost every year. Each time I go it’s a very fun time, and I think it’s one of the best theme parks I’ve been to. The only problem I have with it is that it has no competition. Because it’s the only theme park in Utah, it can get away with pretty much anything since people will still go. The prices are very expensive for the experience, and it gets very crowded over the weekends and during the summer. There’s been a few times where I go for the whole day and only end up riding a few rides because of the wait times in the lines. I definitely think it’s worth going as long as you’re prepared to spend too much money and maybe waste hours of your day depending on how many people are at the park that day

I've gone to this park since a kid, I love it all dearly. I haven't been on cannibal but I do wanna go on it eventually in my life, as it's such a bragger tbh. Rollercoaster is my favorite for nostalgia(first rollercoaster I went on as a scared kid) and the ride with the double loop is my other favorite. The last time I went to it with my mom we found a restaurant we didn't know existed so maybe there's more we don't know of our wonderful park. I love pioneer village and it's a crime I haven't gone to that part in a few years.

UTA frontrunner commuter rail also provides access to the park, as far north as Ogden, and as far south as Provo. The 667 lagoon shuttle will take you from the train directly to the park.

I had the opportunity to visit Lagoon in 2017. I didn't even know about the Pioneer Village. From what I saw, it reminded me of Tombstone, Arizona. The rest of the park is solid. Cannibal the star of the show, but the others are good too. I'm not sure if they still do this, but my aunt and uncle were able to get my family discounted admission through the local area Costco.

As Utahn I hate this place because the Wild Kingdom Train Zoo. All the animals are in tiny, dirty, beat to hell pens with bare concrete floors. They got lions in a concrete cage the size of a small apartment, fucking ridiculous. There's been a few efforts by citizens to get it shut down and the fact its still there is sad

Gonna add to the transportation methods to the Park is Frontrunner. You can take the light rail system from the airport to downtown, transfer to the blue line towards Salt lake Central, then transfer again to Frontrunner going towards Ogden and get off at the Farmington station. There should be a free/cheap bus that goes to Lagoon from there. You'll spend like $20 for going to and from Lagoon this way and if you timing everything right it'll be maybe 20 minutes more then the 30 minute drive from SLC to Lagoon

  • @CanobieCoaster

@@pagejames8754 $20 for gas from SLC + $20-30 for parking + if from out of state renting the car which will be hundreds of dollars (if your goal is just downtown SLC and Lagoon) and that 20 extra minutes is factoring in if you mess up timing for Frontrunner and have to wait for one to arrive (the actual train ride is actually 25 minutes). Yeah, $20 for Frontrunner and maybe some extra time you have to deal with will be worth it over the like $250-$300 for traveling if from out of state and needing to travel

I'd go just for the sky gondolas! I was so sad when Disney yanked theirs. (I know, time to let go, Phil!) Primordial did indeed turn out great, since I'm 6 months into your future I've watched the POVs. And I can't wait to ride Cambial someday. Even that old Schwartzkopf Jetstar II; Great America Chicago opened with one of those and I always hit it first thing. Very high school nostalgic. Thanks for the review and park use tips! If I ask you about Flying Aces, Canobie Coaster would say: A) Flying Aces. These Bisch-Rocco flying scooters were good no matter how I rode it. B) Flying Aces. I had an amazing experience on these Bisch-Rocco flying scooters in 2018 and my ranking reflects those experiences. My ride in 2022 was still good, but not standout.

Former employee here. Pioneer Village is only partially a recreation. A lot of those buildings and features were actual establishments used and owned by mormon settlers that were later restored and transported to the park. Also, Puff is notorious among locals for being one of the rides that have killed someone.

@@CanobieCoaster In 1989. From what I've heard, the ride operator allowed some people to remain in their seats if they wanted to ride a second time, and a 6 year old child in the rear car was trying to get out of his seat. The operator started the ride before he could get out and the child was knocked back out onto the tracks. The car came back around the loop and ran him over before anyone could get to him. They no longer allow people to stay in the ride if they want to ride twice, they have to exit the ride and get back in line, even if the queue is empty. Edit: Sources for a lot of the fatality stories related to Lagoon have been compiled here, including one my own Grandma was a witness to. mysteryofutahhistory.blogspot.com/2017/05/the-dark-side-of-lagoon-amusement-park.html?m=1
