I discovered this song years before I saw Olafur live. When I did see him and when he played this I was glad that I was in the back corner row of a big hall in the dark so that the tears of a muscular shaven headed bearded man were not to be seen by anyone. Years later, and it still touches deeply.

13 years ago I lost my male best friend to suicide I wrote this the night before his bday not knowing who it was for and not realising it was his bday until later I was going to send to his mum but then thought it’s for so many mums and there’s so many in this pain something I fear so much I never had children They can take my body but they can’t take my soul When you stand in that flame I stand there with you, but to me the flame is no longer a fire from where I stand You can drown in rivers from your tears and I stand there with you I stand the same but the only difference between you and me is that I am free and I feel no pain Little boy no more Or less or more I am in the same house but without walls and doors I am the thorns I am the petals it all feels the same where I stand & I stand there with you You cry for the little boy as I stand there with you That little boy is now big dreams Dreams I have for you The nightmares you have me in, isn’t where I stand I am not there The little boy so small I fit into every crack of your shattered soul and so big I can see past all the days of pain that seem for you so endless My little hand from where I stand is big enough to carry all the million pieces of you’re broken heart In my new reality I am everywhere I choose to be and everything I want to be I can even have you next to me, and next to you is where I’ll always be If only you could see my world from where you are on earth The little boy has been rebirthed My short life you see from where you stand But my life is longer than I knew it to be when I was behind the door There is nothing I haven’t seen and there is no where I havent been Nothing missing nothing I need to do I am still in the world that you created and the world I’m in now also created you This is where I’m deaf to the sound of cries Fire doesn’t burn and water doesn’t drown me There is no pain where I stand, and when I see the pain on earth I forgot even how it feels I don’t forget a single moment of happiness we shared in fact I live it in every moment where I am and it is here where you’re happiness is, it’s alive and next to me. If only you could see what I mean from where I am. It’s a dreamland that doesn’t exist to you but it’s a land where I will always stand. I will stand here on the top of the hill waiting for the day you climb up to the top and forever hold my hand. From where you are the mountains may fall and crumble many times before you get to the top of that hill. You may feel to be at the bottom but to me you are at the top, standing next to me. I’ll stand here waiting for you until you see that the mountain was and will always be here, and it’s your mind that crumbles. Once you have crumbled every wall and opened every door until no more … you will find me and it will be where our worlds will finally meet and what we no longer need will slip away from under our feet. Together we will fly free forever where there is always the sun and always the moon, and all the stars that were once so out of reach are now twinkling at our feet.

It makes me so sad and happy at same time. I remember when i was a kid i could experience life and world with all my being, through my eyes upon my skin and the breathing of the air. My heart and soul was overwhelmed with feelings just by looking the snow on the hills , the raindrops on the window and the sunset upon the sea and the smile of a dear one. The melodies somehow connect the strings and make me experience again all these lost feelings through my memories but then again it makes me sad because i know i cannot go back and no matter how much i try and dig deep inside me i cannot experience life in the same way anymore, that's what this absolute masterpiece does to me.

I believe when it starts the kid is surrounded by his own walls, when given the blanket. He finds warmth and sensation in his life.Which is then taken away from the confinements of reality. He finally comes to terms with being lost in the haze, covered in mist. He has no where to go, no where to be, until tangled and captured. Into this new way of life, something he isn't familiar with yet. Only strands of which what was once his blanket, but is now the strength and warmth of growth. He sees his determined fate, and moves on.

Let go of all your worries , your past events .. let go of your sadness and free yourself . You got all the strength that you need to Let go and just be in this very present moment because for now that’s all you got and little miracles will start to happen when you let go of all ideas how things should be or who you should be with right now ! Let go and let the magic happen ! You will feel it with your own heart how much relief and purest piece you will feel inside your heart ! Leave it to Ólafur to come out with such a touching, expressive, deep in thought, and majestic piece and performance. Such delight in this piece is featuring such a lovely child and a pure natural he is with such an expressive conveyance of mood, expression, depth, and feeling. This child in thw video is doing what most humans spend a lifetime doing, and some never even get it. A child is born of energy, that is what they know, we as society build walls and restrictions, and innocence is lost or pure energy really..immagination and wonder are stripped from a childs hands, true essence now become something taken and sought after..and hopefully in the end we can all break from the confinements and free ourselves and experience the true energy of life again.

So true, but as we get older the more restrictive everything becomes. So many rules, so many restrictions, so much obedience and conformity. We are born into this life as a child thinking we can do anything, but it's trick. It's a sad trick for majority of us.

Be sure to show compassion even for them whom you can't convince that tomorrow will be different from today. To those who you can not convince that times will change, they will have to have endurance. They will have to use their strength from within. Show compassion to them and be patient, and don't forget to love even if they don't want to accept it. Don't feel hesitant to show your emotions too as you are all only humans, from different paths and that should not let you stop feeling love and compassion for each other. Because life was the stone you're given, and the sculpture is what you made out of it, together.
