The character of Allie Novak is pure gold. And listening to Kate Jenkinson I realize now that she is a mine of gold. Witty, smart, beautiful, passionate.

Kate explaining how writing in the demise of Bea makes sense in terms of the tv series as a whole helps me start to make peace with the fact that she's gone. I was absolutely gutted when we lost her, and cried so hard that she died. Just when she found the love she deserved. I was so devastated. But she explained it so well. It still hurts alot because I really fell in love with her. Following her story through abuse, hardship, losing her daughter, getting revenge on her killer, rising to the top and then...finding love. She's a hero. I had such admiration for her. I felt like it was such a rollercoaster of emotions to go through, as a viewer. Feeling like I almost knew her as a person. And it was incredibly gratifying for me to see a realistic and true love story between her and Allie. I will miss Bea so much. My love

Ballie is my favorite couple. They were magic together. It was almost like a virtual reality where you felt like you were there with them. When Bea fell in love with Allie you felt like you fell in love too. Idk that could just be me but I love how the Wentworth writers did it.

I like the little behind the scene stories Kate told us. I like how Danielle/Dan get thrown in to the stories, it shows how close they are. Amazing chemistry those two!

Recently finished Wentworth Season 4 and was totally broken hearted over the loss of Bea and the loss of such a sweet romance between Alli and her charactor... this interview and Kate's similar reaction to the news and explanation of what a bold and appropriate choice this was for the show has brought a bit of closure. RIP Bea.. and thanks to Danielle Cormack for putting us all on an amazing emotional rollercoaster for the last 4 years:) you will be missed..

This is such a wonderful interview, I knew I loved Allie Novak right from the first episode (4.1) but Kate as a person is even more amazing. My admiration for the Wentworth girls grow everyday.

What a bittersweet ending to a really epic season! Your performance was impeccable Jenko! I don't think a movie or any other Tv show has emotionally impacted my heart the way this one did

I truly had hoped Wentworth would take a look at how the TV series Strikeback would kill off supporting cast mates throughout its running years but NEVER it's 2 main characters. In my opinion Bea and Franky were/are the main characters and it broke my heart to have Bea die. I am not sure I will be able to continue to watch Wentworth without Bea. Danielle Cormack made Bea so real and inviting that I honestly feel like I have lost a friend. Wentworth writers please re-think this action. The series, Last Tango in Halifax, realized it made a mistake in the Kate and Caroline storyline when they killed off Kate.

I thought I was the only one who felt like I had lost a friend. Watching the finale of Season 4 was gut wrenching. I've gotten so attached to these characters, which truthfully has been weird for me. They aren't real people lol! Danielle Cormack brought Bea to life and portrayed her so wonderfully. I guess we can always hope she makes it!

Such wonderful and thoughtful comments by Jenko about the finale. Her response resembles mine. I threw a big 'ol adult fit and then really sat and thought about it and its sheer brilliance and boldness for everything she discussed in here.

Sorry Jenko, but stick to your guts! It was the wrong decision to kill Bea. She still had a lot to experience and do on her journey. Finally found true love and it was ripped from her too soon. The relationship just started. I will forever be sad about the writers' choice.. 😥

Agreed. If the writers didn't want her to get boring (which could never happen anyway), then don't write her fucking boring! They could've did so much with Bea.

I know it's really sad, but also a producer of the show has confirmed it and Kate says here: "There's kind of a gift in letting a character like that go at the peak of her journey. And I think it's a very brave choice for the producers to have made."

Bea also died in the original Prisoner, so its not a stretch that she died in this series too.

Very nice interview with KJ. Loved the questions and insight about Ballie and Allie's character and some of the acting choices made for particular scenes. I can see why they chose Kate to play Allie...her personality shines through that character. Again, nicely done. I'll be catching up on your other interviews with cast and crew from Wentworth.

I'm starting to accept that Bea is gone because of this so thank you. Kate is so lovely and honest and thoughtful in every way. I love her so much and I'm loving her so much more each time she shares something. I'm just devastated that the show didn't go with the alternate ending... But it makes sense to let Bea go as opposed to her turning boring... I kinda get it in my mind... It's just hard for my heart to accept...

OMG, That wasn't that creepy in my mind ahaha. Btw you two have been so lucky to interview her! I would like too... ! But I'm sure I won't be as good as you two are. Yes! Absolutely... and she's true, you know. Most of the actors act even when they get interviewed but she doesn't. You can read what she is thinking on her face. She has that "something" you can't explain. The rest of the cast is amazing too : they're very easygoing, Socratis even answer to private messages. Tammy seems to me sooo funny and a strong woman as I can see on IG, so is Danielle. And they're all great actors. I bless God for when I decided (good vibes) to watch this show one year ago.

Yeah! I agree. They're all really great in real life! It's so refreshing to watch their interviews because they aren't "fake" in any way. I hope more celebrities would be that way... And Jenko...you can just see that she's a genuine person and she really cares about others. I also can't explain it but I'm sure anyone can feel her honesty. She gives me so much hope for this world without even knowing it.

Haven't watched this entire interview yet and am loving it. Skipping ahead though, I hate the ending of Season 4 because of 'Ballie' but I, totally, get it and it was brilliant. I'm still in shock, however, but 'it'll be ok'. Season 4 is now on Netflix. Bravo to Kate and Danielle for portraying such a beautiful story. For those of us starving for this kind of TV 'entertainment', Wentworth has not disappointed. Just brilliant!!!

Most of the questions asked was ones I was curious about for example how could she (or actor) be able to go from Australian accent to our English language without. sorry couldn't find better words. The explanation over Bea's character's death was so eloquently put with warmth that in someways helped the healing process for me. Also to know that a cast member, on the show, had the same hurt reaction along with all of us fans. I find Kate, thru her interviews I have seen, to be a actress with such beauty, bubbly, light hearted person that you could talk to, hang out with, and laugh with if you were fortunate enough to meet her. I don't know if I will because I'm a 41 year old disabled country girl on a ranch in a small town in Texas... I heard your dislike for Texas before but hey we aren't all half bad. I stay out of politics. Back on topic, I just again wanted to thank you lady's for all you do and Kate keep inspiring and doing what you love.. Always be happy.. love and big hugs p. S. This is a great interview. I am such a big fan of Allie. And I can't wait to see what will happen in season and where they take Allie.. I really loves the Allie and Bea love story...

If Bea is indeed dead I'm not sure I'm feeling the "no where else to go" excuse or "because it's what you don't want or expect to happen". I dont think Kate even believes that nonsense. Bea (and Danielle) deserves better. Some of the things she said contradicts comments made by Cormack in interviews previously. Dan at least always seemed encouraged by the future prospects of her role, what it meant to the viewers/fans and also seemed fully committed... but I'm going to leave that alone. I will say that I think many took for granted Cormack's ability to carry the bulk of the dramatic weight in most of her scenes with others or alone, as well for the show as a whole. She made others and the show look good. In the blink of an eye Cormack's rare intensity alone could change the whole pace and tone of the entire show. THIS was the rocket fuel that powered Wentworth to dazzling heights each season.

You have to remember that in the original Prisoner that there were cast reshuffles, and also that Bea died in the original too. It will be sad to see Bea go, but I think the rest of the cast will carry this show. If they get rid of the Freak though then I'm gonna be really, really upset. She makes Wentworth what it is for me. Season 1 was good, but every season that has featured Joan has been amazing.

+Jay West Respect to Prisoner Jay but you have to remember that this is a different show. Prisoner was more a soap from a different time and this is a "gritty drama". More importantly the show has been centered around Bea Smith and followed her journey since S01e01 when she was first arrested and entered Wentworth. She's been the show's main protagonist and hero since the start.

Wonderful interview. Kate is adorable. Loved the fact that it was a long one too. I know they have binding contracts and such so we really won't know the absolute truth until season 5 airs. My gut is wrenched to think Bea is really gone. The only scenes left are of flashbacks/memorial type things. I'm my head I want to keep some glimmer of hope she doesn't die. My heart doesn't know what the hell is up. 😂. I would love to see her and Dan in another production similar to What Crystal Chappell has done with Venice. we want more #Ballie Or even something completely different. They work so well together.

I love the character that Kate played on Wentworth. When Bea and Allie fell in love, so did I. The chemistry between Danielle and Kate was so tangible that it thrilled me every time I saw them together.

Why isn't anyone talking about Kate confirming Bea's death? Why are the writers bullying us like this? I dead ass bawled for 20 minutes straight after watching "Seeing Red". Bawled. And all I need is the truth. It would take me awhile to get over but my heart wouldn't hurt as badly if they would be honest. Is she dead or not? Stop giving us this false hope. You're already hurt our favorite character. I feel like Bea waiting on news about Allie..

I talked to Dan on the weekend and she basically confirmed it. I said it sucked she was killed off WW and she agreed. I think we need to move on, and come to terms with Bea dying. In interviews DC talks about 'Life after Bea Smith". Look up Star Observer and LOTL

Liron and Mimi, you ladies have some good connections! Kudos! Shout out to Kate for her time. She's just lovely. My favorite scene, as well, when they were in the slot side by each. They both were belly laughing, so refreshing. As Kate mentioned, Bea just needed to have some frigg'n fun! "If" there is no more Bea..continued success to Danielle Cormack..I personally love the show for it's entirety and agree...the remaining ensemble have unfinished storylines..Kate will bring it..i'm sure! I am a fan. Sure, seeing the final episode..we could have seen more of them together, more playfulness, less whispering and lurking from the freak, that would be my only complaint!!!P.S. Also,, enjoyed Libby Tanner's interview. Yes, her name needs to be on the forefront of the credits. More so, you managed to interview Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia. Love, Love, Love Crystal...from her days on the soaps to Venice the Series..waiting patiently for season 5....hope to see updates and maybe even episode vlogs ..although the episodes usually are pretty short...good conversation, as you have proven on KZread with all Wentworth fans..I appreciate your time and effort. Why does nobody think of it as a kind of version of Romeo and Juliet. Bea was just told Allie was going to die and told her to wait for her. Then when the plan with Ferguson did not go exactly as planned she decided to go to Allie and at the same time win from Ferguson, but then Allie wakes up and Bea doesn't...

Well the D.o.B now that #katejenko has mentioned she's a virgo ♍ (yippee). The two things as a virgo myself I feel and thought of are indeed very similar to those she describes here, one being afraid of aging like being in 30s (not yet there but soon will be) that time-line of growing old I don't even know why but it's the insecurities of some sort of unknown origin. Listening her reply on this made me ease off a bit knowing that things get better in future. Secondly as a child what she must have dreamt of, my answer was definitely an astronaut, so I got this one correct. Right now feeling lucky to have guessed correctly so far. And about #katejenko, you understand how another virgo perceives you, so no need for me to explain my appreciation for you. Keep going.

What really bothers me is their relationship is so short. It's the same thing with Beecher & Keller on OZ, there was 6 seasons but Beecher is the main character but his relationship with Keller got so little focus and felt so short lived but the writers acted like it was this big thing. I was really hoping they'd actually let there be w relationship here, especially since Allie and Beas relationship was the best acted relationship I've seen in a show in a long Time. It was so genuine and beautiful.

Literally Bea Smith's love interest. That made me laugh. Seriously I don't know where the show is going with Bea dead and Franky free. I love Pamela Rabe's acting but I would love to see less of the freak. I want her dead tbh, maybe Wentworth has a huge story with Sonia

At 21:51 she says she thinks it's only in your mid-30s that you stop wishing you were younger. That has not been my experience. My 30's were the best years of my life. I looked my best, had soaring self-confidence, had an insane amount of energy, lots of friends & communities of which I was a part, an interesting life, & several people told me I was the happiest person they'd ever seen. But, that all went to hell about 18 years ago & I've never recovered. I am CONSTANTLY wishing I was 20 years younger so I could live to see things change as much for animal rights as they have in the last 25 years regarding LGBT rights. I don't feel attractive, I'm fat, I certainly don't have "THINGS" that most Americans have, and I have values by which I live that are too demanding for most women. I keep saying that the woman of my dreams is probably in Africa or Asia somewhere, volunteering with a wildlife rescue, sanctuary, or rehab program, or an anti-poaching or nature education program (or traveling around the world, stopping to volunteer at all of the above) and she's wondering where the hell I am! Even though I look much younger than I am, I keep aging, which sucks. For one thing, most women aren't attracted to older women, as Mimi's wife is. Secondly, I'm aware that even if I live to be a healthy 120 (a possibility, given current aging research), I *am* going to die and if I was just 20 years younger, I might be able to live until there are some real breakthroughs in aging science and I could live to be 150 or older. I just have the constant sense I'm running out of time and I don't have much to look forward to. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. It just triggered me, for lack of a better word, b/c I *so* wish I was in my 30s now. Of course, my life might suck as much as it does now and I might have missed all the wonderfulness that was my life in the 90s & early 2000s, so who knows. Maybe I'm right where I'm supposed to be. It's just hard to see any purpose in just surviving and I feel I might be a tragic figure, like Nikola Tesla, dying alone & penniless. (There is a moving TED "Talk" by Marco Tempest on Nicola Tesla that I recommend.) I just know I'm 56, and I'm already constantly reminiscing about 15-25 years ago rather than looking forward to anything. And that's tragic and certainly not attractive or inspiring.

Thanks for your honesty, Donna. We are sorry to hear that you're struggling. But remember, Mimi's life completely changed when we met. She was 62 years old. So, even when it doesn't seem like there's something to look forward to, you never know what could be just around the corner!

Storywise, I do not mind Bea dying (although I fucking love her!), I thought it was beautiful that she sacrifies herself to have justice for Alli'es death... and then Allie woke up and I felt cheated, I felt like it was an insult to Bea's character. Why did they have to even rob her of happiness in her death? If she knew Allie would make it, she would have let the Freak go. Allie waking up is just plain cruel. They should have both died or both survived. I am very upset at the producers for that.

Jennifer ravolet do you think ppl tried to convince Shakespeare to change the end of his stories? I was heartbroken when she died, but from a creative standpoint I get them and I understand and celebrate this decision.

I was looking for a word to describe Bea's death and you got it, spot on. CHEATED. That's the right word. Bea was cheated. If she or if they (Vera, Will, etc, waited To release Ferguson) only waited for a few more minutes, Maxine would or couls have called again and tell them that Allie is still alive or regained consciousness then Beas wouldn't have sacrificed herself.
