I’m sure they would have had an inkling. When you see a musical event in the flesh that ends up being iconic, it’s always amazing to see people still raving about it decades later (even if it is only in that particular performers fanbase.) I have witnessed two such events in person and feel so lucky.

+Ritz But why is Rebel Heart struggling to sell 1M copies & struggling to get a grammy nomination? When Gagas jazz album sold 1.5M and she released a song for a documentary which got a grammy nomination? Dont be mad because Gaga is versatile and can work other genres other then pop. Just look at her performance for Sting(rock), Stevie Wonder(funk) & Frank Sinatra.

+Ritz Literally I told you the reasons why she was named the woman of the year. One of them is her jazz album (C2C) and the only thing Madonna is succeeding at are the tours, she is flopping horribly in the sales & charts department, So you cant compare Madonna who in the age of no streaming & illegal downloads & whenever someone wanted to hear her music they had to buy a copy of her album. Also notice how I said ''new queen of pop'' because she took Madonnas spot as she's irrelevant right now and isnt talked about anywhere. I say Gaga did pretty well in her first 7 years.

Her voice sounds less auto tuned than the real video, she sounds more authentic and more like Gaga.

I remember when I saw her live during her fame monster tour she at one point just laid on the stage and writhed while talking about how much she hated autotune and all the fake shit the music industry pumps out. It was incredible.

She set a new standard of pop with this performance. Every time I hear the song I think of Britney Spears before the conservatorship. All Britney wanted was love and she always got the wrong men. Then Gaga being sacrificed at the end of the performance. It lined up so well.

This was the day the world knew who lady gaga is and that theater can be introduced into a song performance everything else started from this, iconic.

No, Gaga isn't the Only artist to have a different performance...but for her 1st Vmas & having the idea to come up with something so unique & almost eerie..I could hear the gasps in the crowd when they saw the blood..especially coming out of the bubblegum pop performances we've seen w other female pop stars, well it's pretty damn impressive & she's even said when she came off stage after, " I've made it"😏I've only grown to love & respect her more for her creativity & real TALENT💛💚💙💜❤️

I just found this version right now, and the ending gave me that same feeling I felt the first time I saw it air line on the VMAs. That element of disbelief, that "omg that was fucking crazy" type of shock. maybe it's the reason footage that brought it back, looking like a real death scene. The choreo also looks awesome seeing it full view as opposed to the zoom in on the original. I hadn't even noticed some of those steps like when she crept out when she gets up

This is one of her most iconic performances ever. How come the original sounds a bit more metallic. She doesn’t use auto tune or lip sync but I’m wondering if the VMAs May have added a slight effect cause this sounds completely natural

They're not allowed during televised events. Luckily this person was so far away and likely of no interest to security and event staff. I was in the audience of a certain singing competition show and we had to put our phones into lockers before going into the studio.

It was this performance that turnIed me into a Gaga fan. I heard her name several times & I decided to just KZread her to see what the hype was about. I became a fan & watched this multiple times a day for at least a month straight. An awesome performance. Thanks for posting & thanks to the one that recorded it. It's cool to see it from a perspective as if I were there myself.
