I am so proud to be going to such an amazing school as ESA. I hope people understand that though it was amazing to be going to this school the message of what she is saying is what really matters.

I am so proud of my school. Our initiatives are being internationally recognized. And the fact that such a celebrity is taking the time out of her schedule to say congratulations and how proud she is of us, that is worth something. I could not be prouder to be an ESA student.

Lady Gaga is by FAR my favorite, and basically the only pop star I actually like bc she's inspirational and she helped me get through bad times, i would risk my own life getting to see her in concert ❤

Sometimes I am put off by thing and extreme costumes, but I like how she stands up for what is right. No one should every feel worthless and unloved.

apparently a couple of artists were asked to help stand up against bullying but only lady gaga responded. I think it's pretty great of her to take the time to make a video like this since she's an icon and a role model to a lot of people. i'm glad there are artists out there who do believe in change and is willing do to something about it.

I was in a small high school growing up. Everyone knew your first and last name. I was the person people made fun of as a "common interest" it's how new kids made friends.. Every fight I was in I won but the bullying never stopped. I graduated high school in 2000

I went to ESA and nothing this cool ever happened when I was there.

I have been bullying kids all my life through school because it makes me feel more powerful and stronger than the smaller kids around me. I now know the error of my ways thanks to Lady Gaga in this 1 min video. I will never bully anyone ever again because I will know that Lady Gaga thinks its bad and I don't want her to think of me as a mean person because she means the world to me... But wait I was born a bully, so does that mean people should just accept me instead of wanting me to change?

@zotxou Some people have fragile hearts that break easily. That does not make them weak or incapable of empowering themselves. I think your comment is more polarizing than the words "bully" and "victim", because it assumes that most people have the power to make it on their own, and the ones that don't are just weaklings. Some people need help, support, love in order to survive trauma. Of course, they need to be taught to rely on their resources, but that can be difficult.

@zotxou I totally agree with you! Most people try to "put people into drawers" as we say in germany. That means that the way they treat others depends on gender, race... . And that's all unnecessary. The way I see others only depends on their behavior.

@zotxou In a way, I agree with you -- many children (and unfortunately many adults) simply don't have the capacity of empathy to understand the kind of damage that they do to others, so calling it a hate crime and amounting the highest punishment by itself doesn't sit with me. However, spreading awareness of bullying, spreading tolerance and love, and having anti-bullying campaigns is a very, very good way to get it to stop happening, and Lady Gaga has the right frame of mind to support that.

@zotxou What do you understand by sick? What I'm saying is that people usually need other people in order to keep going, even if they're deluding themselves into believing that their well-being depends on those people. Most of the times, you are your own reason for moving forward, but sometimes you can't do that without someone's help. Saying that life is tough and you should just accept that is cruel and ultimately inefficient. Because you see sane youngsters end up a wreck because of bullies.

Oh my goodness, how can people hate this video, just because Gaga dresses "wierd" doesn't mean you have to hate on her. She is trying to stop bullying because it has such a terrible effect on society. Why do you hate a woman who tries to stop a hate crime and help people who have been bullied. @zotxou call them. It's not about those kids who have done it once or twice, maybe drifted by the moment or because of not realizing what they're actually doing. Lady Gaga and the others try to stop those kids who have it as a hobby to frighten others. The term 'Bully' has many meanings and one of them is the one I stated before. It is what bullies do, isn't it? It doesn't matter in what degree, it's just what they do. They can't be clarifying everytime the level in which someone is bullied

@GoodBlackMusic - I guess that's the problem with individuality and free will. Isn't it? People are free to think and choose what they like and cannot be compelled to believe something without being convinced. That's far better than the alternative of coercing people to think in a certain way, which really is the issue here. Isn't it? Isn't that what bullying is all about, in this day and age? By and large, I would agree with you, but I cannot force people to think like me. I must convince them.

@zotxou Right, some children bully because they themselves are not happy and are insecure with themselves, so they must feel superior and get a thrill out of themselves by tormenting those who are weaker than they. That certainly is not the healthy or "normal" way of growth. We're not predisposed to bully, but rather bullying is a perversion of normal, healthy growth. It's nothing more than a compensation for feeling unhappy and inferior.

the sad truth of the matter is that many of the bully's are the one's that are getting bullied because they are hurt inside so that causes them to hurt other people

@loscharolastras11 although there are things about your comment that i agree with, i think the amount of personal, emotional, and mental problems that my parents generation has in general is proof that sometimes bullying behavior is a passing on of trauma and dysfunction from the bullier to the bullied. this being said, I don't think that bullies are just in schools. There are just as many bullies in real life, and teens should learn that so they are ready for the injustice of real life.

It's impossible. and as horrible as it is, you are correct that it's better to be bullied young than never because eventually you will be bullied. it cannot be avoided, and if you are bullied young you at least know and understand how to deal with it in a healthy manner thats not going to harm you physical or emotional in the long run.

And even then, it is the adults who teach children what's right from wrong, what's desirable or undesirable. But you just want to hear your own voice. You just keep repeating what you want to believe but never consider the alternative.

What the schools are "doing" isnt stopping anything. Are you aware that many KIDS kill themselves because of bully's.. this is a HUGE problem and its going to get worse if nothing is done about it.
