the song is a complete metaphor. when gaga sings "i'm still in love with judas" it somehow symbolizes how we can't help but loving the people who give us hell. she also plays the role of mary magdalene here. this video was mad controversial at the time, many religious protests were held outside her concerts and she was also banned from entering Indonesia.

Judas was one of the twelve apostles that betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver which led to His arrest and crucifixion. People generally invoke his name when talking about betrayal. My interpretation of the song is that Gaga is cleverly using Judas’ namesake as a metaphor for someone being torn between being what is “good” and “right” and “pure” what is seen as “bad” or “sinful.” Having the self-awareness that what you’re doing is either bad for you or labeled as bad/trashy, but still choosing to stay true to yourself and your art, and how you feel even if it might cost an internal (and external) war. I think Gaga has even said that the lyrics in the breakdown is about her being beyond repentance for how she lives as a woman and an artist. The fun part about this song, is that it’s a great dance track but can also be seen as a sad love song - being in love with someone who doesn’t treat you well

I always thought it was about knowing someone is toxic and still not being able to quit them, even with the help of loved ones and knowing there are people out there who would treat you better. The lyrics use Judas as the temptation, and Jesus as the good guy. She still can't totally let Judas go....😢. The bikers are even Jesus's other apostles, and Gaga is Mary Magdalene.

I am 96% convinced Gaga was inspired by Leila K's singing style in parts of her vocals here.
