I always imagined the music video to be like black and white and set in Rome. I imagine Gaga is sitting on a motorcycle with a guy whose face is a skull. She is wearing a red dress, which is the only colour shown in the video. Anyways, I imagine her and the guy to drive into the Vatican city and praying for forgiveness. There are also scenes of Gaga in a bathtub filled with blood and roses and monks dressed in black leather monk outfits singing the GAGA part.

When this album came out, everyone said they missed the Lady Gaga from The Fame era and The Fame Monster. Songs like this were seen as extremely weird and unlike any other pop music at the time like adele or Katy perry. Now it’s seen as classic and people embrace the quality and timelessness of it. She’s always way ahead of culture by ten years or more.

That would explain the reffrences to kings, france, englands monarchies and so on. Mary magdalene was not called bloody mary that was actually the title of mary the first because if u looked her up you would find that she killed a bunch of people through cruxifiction giving her the title bloody mary and also is why the chorus has the lyrics "i wont crucify the things you do". This song is pretty sad in a romantic sense. It's basically singing about when you love somebody so much when they're gone, they become a part of you. She'll dance with hands above the air to prove that she's not hurt by him, but deep down she is burdened with grief and sorrow for his leave. Just like Marry Magdalene and Jesus.

Gaga has so many great songs from 10 years ago that never got the attention they deserved. Have loved this song for many years, people now only discovering it through tiktok should look into her other songs that weren't released as singles. She has many gems.

there's something so fascinating to me about lady gaga and her discography. the production on this song alone is immaculate, the strings, the vocal distortion, those powerful screams, the chanting... dark, pulsing and atmospheric. so haunting and perfect.
