Lady Allows "Rat Addiction" To Destroy Her Marriage

Ойын-сауық

Pewdiepie and I are reacting to more TLC My Crazy Obsession! This time we look into the life of a self described "rat addict" who allows her addiction to destroy her marriage. We happen to think the rats are pretty cute, but does she take her love for rats too far?

    She really tried to get rid of the rat poison by buying it to throw it away. Sis they have more in the back, and the more they sell the more they get in future shipments. You're literally contributing to higher demand.

    Throwing it away is super concerning because this could effect plenty more animals than just rats. Aside from that, if she really wanted people to stop selling rat poison she could talk about the fact that birds of prey and other important native predators will consume rats affected with poison and it will kill the predator as well, owls are a big casualty in the rat poison industry.

    I’ve had over 20 rats in total. Each death hurt me a lot, especially my favourite boy, Prince, who lived for 5 years and bonded really close with me. I now only have one rat left, Frank, as his three brothers passed away within a month of each other. I’m not getting anymore after my last one passes as it really is too much to deal with emotionally when they only live 2 years on average and the vet bills are quite expensive. PS: My boys usually smell like buttered popcorn.

    Rat poison is SO dangerous & is actually causing the demise of other species who rely on them as a food source. Birds of prey, foxes, wolves, mountain lions, etc. IF you have a wild rodent problem, use humane traps & release them elsewhere, or as inhumane as they are, the old fashioned spring traps. Too many other animals ingest the poisoned rodent & die from it

    As a rat breeder and rescuer, DO NOT LEAVE YOU PET RATS/SMALL ANIMALS UNSUPERVISED. Not only can they damage your walls, but they can get hurt. I can't stand rat owners who just think they can do whatever they want with their pet without doing the appropriate research or even use common sense. I have rescued so many rats from people like this and it breaks my heart how the animals turn out as a consequence. People, please, if you decide to get exotic pets such as rats (or even normal pets like dogs), do your bloody research extensively! Save up money, prepare to clean alot, feed them appropriate diets, and watch lots of videos and read lots of papers to make sure you aren't putting your animals in danger or making their lives miserable!!!!

It was a ton of work, once they started to pass away it was too hard for me. I couldn't do it anymore. Rats really are great pets, they are so smart and have so much personality. They really are like little dogs. They like to play and give you kisses. You can also teach them their own names and tricks. All of mine knew their names and would come when called.

  • @DriedVix
    @DriedVix10 ай бұрын

    The part where Blossom passed was sad because as someone who works at a vet office, you need to keep post surgery animals warm. There is a reason they wrap them in multiple blankets and have them on a heating mat as they cannot produce their own body heat when under anesthesia. Smaller animals also have a higher natural body heat than larger animals, so she likely could have passed due to her trying to warm her up in her hands and not in an incubation chamber or in front of a heater. It’s kinda wild they just let mum take her home while she was still under, but I can see their reasoning as she doesn’t seem like the type of person who could leave her sick animal for an extended period of time. It can be nerve wracking enough waiting for a dog to wake up. Let alone a rat with a mum who HAS to be right there but not know proper procedure for coming out of anesthesia. RIP Blossom.

    Ken is right in that there is a difference between how sanitary pet rats are compared to feral rats. Feral rats can be vectors for pests, parasites, and diseases, and feral rat infestations can lead to unsanitary living conditions. This has been well-researched. I’d hold a pet rat, sure, but I’d definitely avoid touching a feral rat, for my health’s sake.

    Seems most people nowadays realize that rats (that aren't feral) aren't dirty by nature and that the only reason feral rats are still unpleasant to have around is because they carry ticks and other parasites but that's really with any feral animal. Thankfully more and more people are being made aware of the myths surrounding rats and they're treated better in general, they really did have such a bad rep for so many years which is sad because they're really chill pets to have around. (if you don't mind the droppings Lol) This lady in the video is just insane (not judging, just an observation) and needs to see a counselor, her problem isn't the rats, her problem is her escapism is literally ruining her life. It's also not a healthy environment for her kid, it's clear he loves his mom but I'm afraid he's going to learn some bad habits from her if she doesn't get some help, and it's clearly causing tension between him and both of his parents.

    I've been raising rats and breeding them on and off for like 15 years and I can't live without a rat in my life, like I have to see them everyday. Some are smart, some are dumb, some act like literal cartoons, they're so different with little personalities. When they're sleepy their bottom lip sticks out like the cutest freaking thing, and when they're super happy they grit their teeth and "boggle" their eyes which is the most hilarious thing and looks like a cartoon character bugging their eyes out. I had one beautiful ivory colored rex (curly haired) mama rat who had 13 babies, but they only have 12 nipples, so she divided them into two groups by their fur colors so she could nurse them in shifts and make sure not to miss any. Her litter was one of the healthiest I've ever seen, she was also super friendly and if a stranger came to our house, instead of being nervous she would run over to sit in their lap and say hello, and she held still and posed for photos.

There’s no amount and nothing I wouldn’t give to rescue beings in need. I love animals, nature and some people. It takes a certain personality to take the hurt in loss, bounce back and do it again. Rats are incredibly smart, learn their names, can learn tricks, etc. there’s a reason we use them for so many different applications! Giant rats sniff out landlines and can smell cancers in people. Unfortunately the lifespan is very short, 2-4 years max. That’s for a fancy rat like this lady has. You CAN tame wild rats, and they can live longer, but take more time as they are way smarter :) Rats are also horribly prone to tumors. I lost one of my babies to one much like Blossom had. The vet never even said anything about recouped time in house. A friend of mine has a mobile vet come to his house for rat stuff, so they can get back to their burrows/cages quickly. Great with other animals dogs, cats, even our bearded dragons. Smart enough to potty train and teach tricks. Curious and mischievous always into something. Also fun fact rats are more in tune to emotions than people give them credit for including going so far as caring for sick cage mates, burying them if they pass away and grieving.

    It's a huge risk when you put a pet through surgery. The rates of complications after surgery are much higher. It is especially dangerous for small animals. Anesthesia has to be closely and carefully monitored, because it is easy to give the wrong dosage, and even with the correct dosing, animals have a really hard time coming out of it safely. That tumor was the size of Blossom's head. I think they waited too long to operate.

    It seems like Blossom's heart stopped and the lady noticed it just after it happened. Maybe the lady froze and didn't know what to do in that moment, but it could also be that Blossom did lose too much blood and that the heart simply couldn't function normally anymore. The lady's actions might have been for the best in this case, to avoid further unnecessary trauma. (I'm a medic, not a vet, but I understand how people freeze up and don't think clearly when they're in shock, so I think it was the right thing to have happened in the end). As for recuperating; that one's on the vet, in my opinion. Unless I missed the part where the lady wanted to get Blossom home as soon as possible.

They're like little mini dogs, it's sad that they're so misunderstood. They're actually very clean, extremely intelligent, complex, social little creatures. They can be trained to do anything really, including sniffing out drugs, explosives, disease and cancers. Also they don't typically bite unless they have some kind of issue, like pain that is exacerbated by not so gentle handling, or they had been mistreated, perhaps prior to you getting them? I just wanted to mention this incase any morons read your comment and go "see?! They bite, so dangerous!"
