They are often linked with sad memories, such as last goodbyes or the death of a loved one.

For reference, the Para-raid doesn't have a known range limitation. Much later, a couple of characters have a conversation with the Para-raid while in different countries. She's irrationally running to "catch up" to them.

This was the episode which made this anime a masterpiece, the Story telling, the way Lena dragged Annette to do the job, the way she went out of her comfort zone, the way Shin's brother saved him by pushing Shin from the blast radius, that ending music hits sooooooo muchhhh harder now.... nah, the unit Rei's in is 'just' a Dinosauria, the Heavy Tank unit. the 'hands" are created from the liquidmetal/nanomachine compound the Legion use as their primary processing matrix. Rei is literally using his brain to try and strangle Shin. which is fucking wild

Rei’s in a Dinosauria, and those things are WILD, we talking a 155mm main gun, a 76mm secondary gun, two heavy MGs, dummy thicc armor and horrifyingly good mobility for a unit of its size and weighing in at about 100 tons, this thing is just a big WTF.

Lena was always very proficient in scheming and manipulating others to do what she wanted, it shows less in the anime than in the LN when she writes her reports for her superiors, she always highlights battle efficiency, killing legion, geographic control and other technical stuff whenever she wants to get more ammunition, new equipments and other stuff the 86 want or need (just like when she sent the fireworks and the maps), it's all for their better survival or well being but she never goes with that argument because she knows her Superiors won't ever listen, only her uncle knows how she truly is.
