I often see people disregarding the Metro rules. They play their radios loudly, eat and leave their trash behind, and many don't even bother to pay for their ride. These actions not only make our commutes unpleasant but also create an environment that emboldens more serious criminal behavior. When no one enforces the "small rules," who will stop the violent crimes?

I am a bus driver and you are exactly right. I don't say anything to these clowns when they get on about nothing! We don't fuss with them about the fair or bringing food on or anything of the sort. It's a complete circus out there!

I never pay for the metro train but I have deterred so many crimes. I'm that guy that won't hesitate to protect anyone being harmed on train. I have broken up fights and kept people from getting beat up.

Metro would also publicly condemn officers for doing their jobs. Do they want them to do their job now that things have spiraled to chaos?

Those crazy bums shouldn’t even be making it past the entrance down to the subway to begin with. You can just tell when someone is just a dirty crazy bum with no money and is just there to cause chaos for no reason.

I rode the red line metro for two years. The problem is the lack of security at the turnstiles that no one pays at. If people actually paid to ride there would 100% be way less crime on the metro

@@jonathanjohnson4838 you’re right but somebody has to and LAPD is too understaffed to be at every station. The other option is to improve the turnstiles like in NY but thats also costly and no way the city would do that either

Metro Transit is extremely dangerous city council LosAngeles is endangering the public and is severely irresponsible.

When I see the cops at the Metro stations, they don't seem very enthusiastic about "thier job". It seems to me that they'd rather be on the STREETS stopping cars and passing out TRAFFIC TICKETS. They look to me like a "lost bunch" with not a care in the world for that job we're PAYING them for. WHO is going to PAY their salaries; not the Metro! I don't see HOW Metro can AFFORD to pay the cops when virtually NOBODY is paying their fares.

I blame the Mayor, the District Attorney, and the Governor. Instead of protecting citizens and maintaining a peaceful and safe society, they are ignorantly releasing chaos onto our streets.

Thank your City Leadership for the lack of safety .This is what DEI hiring practices look like. Bass and many others are not qualified to handle the tasks they are assigned.

When the police stand around in groups and socialize there will never be enough to make difference . They do the bare minimum . How about if you don’t pay the fair you don’t ride . That would eliminate most issues rolling shelter for the homeless

I stopped paying for the train years ago. I'll start when there is security and no homeless people taking up more than one seat playing loud music, smoking crack. And if I get cited I'll tell the judge that.

I did not know that Gascon Bass and Newsom were in charge of transit security. On the metro gold line from Sierra Madre to downtown I noticed people riding without tapping their cards, a group of guys with open beers and a six pack of beer with them, playing loud music and being obnoxious, a homeless person sleeping in front of us etc. I did not see 1 police officer or security anywhere. This type of crime will continue to happen until metro starts enforcing fare payment and takes security of their customers seriously. Criminals are a step ahead of metro and their so called security. Criminals know that metro has easy pickings for them and they can get away with their criminal activities. I will not be riding metro anymore. I can afford to drive me and my family but many in LA do not have that luxury. I love public transportation and feel sad that I have to stop using it for the sake of me and my family.

Mental challenges? Please it’s all an act to get away with crimes! And The only people who are intimidated by law enforcement presence are the same ones who are committing all these crimes in the metro buses and rails

Bro I work for Metro I'm on the train station 5 days a wk Sheriff's should come back to the train stations not only in Long Beach but in L.A they're way better than L.A.P.D ,L.A.P.D officers on the train stations are old & look like they're about to retire they stand around having conversations if it wasn't for Metro deploying more officers they'll still hide out in the break room & have conversations huddling like they've been doing we need more Metro security & sheriffs L.A.P.D are not 🚫 proactive waste money 💰 & time

I want to offer my own personal vigilante service to Metro . I'm retired but still in my 40s and military trained. If they gave me the greenlight I would walk the train carts 8 hours a day while concealed carrying and responding to crime

I've been to other countries where the Metro is a dignified form of transportation. Here in LA its a moving asylum and homeless motel. I'm other countries at every turnstile you will find Security and Police monitoring who goes in and out. Officers are also on platforms and these are developing countries. Metro, LA and officials should take notes from the security measures taken in other countries. It's a joke that here in the supposed developed world our Metro is a tube of degradation, squalor, crime, violence.

I went to Japan many times over the last few years. I’ve never ever seen one incident even close to what we have here in America. Their public transportation system is clean, neat, efficient, and very well managed. Riders are polite, quiet, and friendly.
