Very good presentation. However I'd like to add that it was first described by Torg, and attributed to his mentor, Lachman 👍🏾

Your videos are very useful for sure. I wonder we have to do external rotation of Tibia.. One thing I have observed is that feet is slightly externally rotated while walking atleast in my case.
Thanks

Can someone explain to me how exactly do I understand if the test is positive? Thanks in advance.
Thanks very much again guys, really enjoying these. I've noticed in a couple of orthopaedic tests of the knee (Valgus Stress and now Lachman's) that you passively hold the tibia in some external rotation. Can I ask what this does?
@Physiotutors
5 жыл бұрын
For the Lachman you can relax the cruciate ligaments and increase ROM. Think officially the test is described in neutral so we might have to do some due dilligence here. For the Valgus Stress it should be in neutral.

What about the drawal tests
Thank you for the video! But I would like to ask why do we need to externally rotate the tibia on femur?
@Physiotutors
7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Benny and good question! Frank et al. (1986) reason that rotation of the tibia influences interpretation. Internal tibial rotation will decrease translation and might lead to a false positive interpretation: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3780086

Why external rotation?
Can someone explain to me when to use lachmann's instead of anterior drawer test, and why?
@Physiotutors
6 жыл бұрын
The Lachman is the best test we have, especially in an acute situation. In a chronic situation, the anterior drawer scores as good as the Lachman. Generally, an orthopedic surgeon (and physio) will usually perform the Lachman, Anterior Drawer and Pivot-Shift altogether to increase the chance for an ACL tear if positive.

I will suggest you ...to test on injured person ..so we can see. ..whats wrong with that joint
@Physiotutors
6 жыл бұрын
Of course that is something we would like to do for every test, but this is just not feasible due to the lack of patients that we would have to film in our studio.
Please give me the journal name?

Could someone explain why eliminating PCL injury before ACL test? Didn't understand why
@Physiotutors
3 жыл бұрын
Because if the tibia sags posteriorly (due to a PCL rupture) you will get a lot of joint play and movement when you pull the tibia anteriorly which mimicks a positive test
there are no of special test

Physiotutors Thank you for such a quick reply!! Found it!! Can I please ask you two more questions? First, this posterior test, can it damage my ligament even more? I have grade 3 pcl tear, and I’m terrified before these tests are performed because I feel like they will just tear all my ligaments completely. And second question - I’m trying to find the bestest exercises to strengthen all the muscles that need to be strengthened before total hip replacement surgery. If you have them on your Chanel, please tell me how to find? Thank you!!!!🙏🙏🙏
@Physiotutors

If you already have a confirmed lesion why would it be necessary to perform the test? In case you are looking to strengthen your hip prior to surgery you can take a look at our videos on gluteal strengthening. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eauEx5KDp7zIoqQ.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXx4xs9pidvOXdI.html
I think the chinstrap should be addressed before any Musculoskeletal disorders.

Hahaha Yes well it’s fixed now. Let’s call it a youth sin
is it possible to have a negative lachman test with a complete ACL tear?? .. 4 orthopaedics performed this test on my knee but no results and the all of a sudden MRI says ACL tear.. i really am suspicious of getting trapped in a fraud😟😟

The best way to remember is always to understand the biomechanical and anatomical background behind a test. Then it becomes logical and you know how to test/stress/provoke the different structures.
