Lacan and Psychological Assessment - Daniel Garcia (28 Oct, 2022)
Dr. Daniel Garcia explores how Lacanian psychoanalysis might inform psychological and personality assessments. Utilizing Lacan's 'Remarks on Daniel Lagache' as a key reference, Dr. Garcia questions how we might revisit the longstanding psychological concepts of personality and character from a Lacanian standpoint. Rather than approaching the ego considered as a more or less unified personality, we should, from a Lacanian perspective, engage with the dimension of the split which characterizes the subject. Noting the prevalence of fundamental misdiagnoses, Dr. Garcia stresses the importance of asking whether a subject is characterized by division or fragmentation at a structural level. Further topics which feature amongst Dr. Garcia's introductory remarks include: uses of the TAT, the distinction between personal narratives and descriptions in projective tests, and the significance of Oedipal structure.

More of this content would be great I think, of the crossover between contemporary practice and the application of the 'Lacanian twist'
seems like most of the talk was skipped, at around 22:47? is this to redact sensitive clinical material?
