vane shear test is only give shear strength and not classified either cohesion or phi values therefore if you use vane shear test for shallow foundation, should be use hand auger method for soil classification.

Nice lecture. one confusion only, first u said that neither c or phi can be determined from vane shear test but in example u determined c from the torque determined assuming 100% cohesive behaviour? please clarify.
