Lab Scale Fermentation - How and Why We Do It

Fermentation is the breakdown of a substance by microorganisms. In this video, we discuss how this process can be exploited to produce valuable molecules at large scale. We also discuss the science and tech needed to prove the economic viability of the production plan at laboratory scale.
The video ends with a piece-by-piece explanation of a lab-scale fermenter and attempts to explain the logic behind all those tubes, pipes, and cables attached to our fermenter. Enjoy!

These pH probes are often made by Mettler Toledo, www.mt.com/us/en/home/products/Process-Analytics/pH-probe.html - they are not quite as accurate as a pH meter that you might have in a lab, but they are able to survive autoclavation. I totally agree that we need more Bio content on YT! Thanks for the feedback! Working on video 2 now!
