Vi esta peli en mi infancia, cuando estaba aprendiendo a bailar flamenco. Hoy 30 y pico de años despues me deja la piel de gallina como en aquel entonces.

I saw this movie decades ago, and was sad to see that this clip had disappeared off of KZread years ago. This is *the* best dance scene of all time. I'm glad to see it's once again available on YT.

I saw the movie in Austin, Texas in 1984. This scene has not lost a ounce of its magic in over 30 years. I’ve watched 100s of dance movies since then, but I come back to this clip again and again. It gets my vote for the greatest dancing in the history of cinematography. So powerful.

Totally agree with you John, living and loving it here in Spain have watched this whole film 6 or 7 times now, still thrills me and shared it with an Engish Film Cub audience and so delighted they got it too. Good is good, eh? Saludos Sheila Spain

I remember seeing this with my fiancée in 1984. We promptly invited as many people as possible over to see it. I think we got the film from blockbusters and nearly wore it out.

Saura’s films are an experience, especially for someone who loves dance. This scene is brilliant. Photography, choreography and performance are all superb and it all adds up to making this one of the finest dance numbers in the history of cinema.

Cristina Hoyos is one of the most beautiful women to dance on this planet. Laura del Sol isn't hard on the eyes either. But Cristina had the charisma of a movie star and the focus of a Zen master.

Cristina Hoyos is always stunning, so glad I saw her on her last performance in London.

Have watched this many times. Absolutely brilliant!

Mi padre era un flamenco del estilo antiguo, y el siempre dijo que la coreografia en esta pelicula era demasiado "West Side Story". No le gustaba las escenas donde bailan en grupo, como esta. Pero a mi siempre me ha encantado esta pelicula. Especialmente esta escena, con tanta fuerza femenina!

@@baealek887 Lo siento, pero no la he encontrado en el internet. Hay varios ediciones en DVD, que los puedes encontrar en eBay, con buen precio. @@mixoubn34 Mi padre tuvo razon para los de su generacion. El baile, como todos los artes, cambia y evoluciona con el tiempo. Los que no cambian se quedan atras, y eso es lo que paso con mi padre. La cultura no esta gravada en roca - es una cosa viva, que se adapta con el tiempo y con contacto con otros artes y otras culturas. Que, crees que el flamenco era exactamente los mismo a traves de los siglos? Espero que no, porque ha cambiado mucho. El flamenco del siglo diecinueve no era como el flamenco del siglo veinte, y ese no era como lo que se baila ahora. Educate, por dios.

OBRA MAESTRA!!!!!!!!

In 1985, my love of this magnificent latin choreography in this scene, led me to create my own take on the epic tobacco-factory dance square-off between the two protaganistas of "Carmen". The dance was physically demanding but my added choice of using Jean Michel Jarre's electronica movement from his "Magnetic Fields"(movement beginning @ 17:59) was the "fuel" for me and the dancers...(35 years on, my legs are still sore, but is a memory and experience I would never replace, we all SHINED)
