This part hit me hard. Gelsomina deserved much better. She knew she had a crappy life yet still thought of others before herself.

Ont regrette toujours le passé même quand ont crois que c'est mal ! C'est après ont réfléchit ! L'un des plus films italien !!

Zampano is on the skids here, following his killing of the Fool, and after his cruel abandonment of Gelsomina. He is about to learn what has become of her, and it will be his undoing...

It was really a sad ending. Even after his cruel treatment of her, I somehow still pitied Zampano. Anthony Quinn conveyed the performance vividly.

very sad indeed , but even more beautiful : just consider the time , the country , etc. : that's also "part of the way" Zampano treated Gelsomina the way he did : he didn't know any better when he bought her ... ; but she , eventually , made him see life in a different way ... "with a little help" from Nino's "la strada theme" ... !!!

In the beginning i thought that Gelsomina was the main focus of this film and that zampano was more like a side character, but in the end i think that zampano’s character and his struggles is the main focus of this film.

이 영화 본게 벌써 30여년은 더 된 것 같은데(당시는 유선방송이라는게 지금의 케이블 방송의 시조인 듯. 근데 흐린 기억이지만 주말의 명화에서 본듯) 지금의 이 장면 젤 소미나 였나 암튼 극중 여주인공 대역명은 기억 나지 않지만 참파노가 빨래 너는 아낙의 멜로디를 따라 찾아간 거기에서 여주인공이 다시 나타나거나 살아있기를 바랬는데 그땐 먼지 몰라도 울켁했었는데 , , , , , , ,
