La Source and Etude de Concert - Harp Tuesday ep. 65
Музыка
In this episode of Harp Tuesday I conclude a look at some of my favourite Etudes. I talk about Hasselmans "La Source" or "The Brook" and Felix Godefroid's Etude de Concert.
Stay tuned at the end of the episode for a short bonus clip of the conclusion of the Godefroid etude.
Part's 1 and 2 (looking at Bochsa etudes) can be found at:

Genay Stevens Thanks Genay!
You are truly amazing for sharing tips and techniques! Love it.
Loved it, especially the end.
Impossibly hauntingly beautiful, bravo! Btw, Where is a good online source for harp etude sheet music? Also, can you post a lesson on your favorite Parish-Alvars piece? Ty Josh
great! I love listening to you play!
Thank you for making this video. I really enjoy them. I now want to learn those two pieces. Can you also make one or more videos that look at the Baroque Flamenco?
I write harp music, sometimes for exam syllabuses, for both lever and pedal harp. Your videos have been great source of interest for me, as I am not a harpist. What I value is that you explain the difficulties in detail and talk about finger choices. This sort of detail for me has helped me refine my own work, and is invaluable to composers as well as players....so I thank you and would like to encourage you to do more !

Thanks! Yes, the harp can be a bit of tricky instrument to write for, sometimes, and of course like any instrument it's always helpful to get insight from players. Glad my videos have been useful!
AHHHH so awesome!
Cool idea, thanks Mark!
Beautiful demo, and lovely shirt too! : )

Haha, thanks! :)
Thank you!!
Wonderful :-)
Hi Josh...since it is an off day, being Wednesday, and all, if you have any students, I made a little flash card drill of pedal positions, which is on my youtube site. It is helping me to become "automatic," so I don't have to search for pedals. This might help them, too. It's 5 mins and covers each pedal position three times. I'm just starting changing pedals, so I took the time to do it and want to pass it on. I love the swing/rhythm variation idea! TY! Mark
Thanks Gorman!
Thanks!
Thanks :)
:) Thanks!
Hi Josh, just want to say thanksssss, for all your amazing videos. I am inspired to start learning the harp after watching your videos! may I just check with you if these 2 songs can be played on a 34 string lever harp or does it have to be on a pedal harp?

Hi Cindy, just replied to your email :) Yes, these both need a pedal harp (though much of the Etude could be done with some extremely fast lever changes, I suppose). If you haven't seen it all ready, you might find the episode I did on buying a harp useful: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3WClKVwfZvKf8Y.html
Hi Josh. I'm not sure if you'll get this bc of the age of this video but I'd love some guidance on the key changes in La Source. I'm getting confused because my version only marks when a note changes pitch, but doesn't indicate when that note returns to it's orginal pitch. So I end up with very dissonant sounding phrases that don't sound right. How can I contact you?
Hi Josh, do you think it would be possible arrange Godefroid Etude de concert for a lever harp or is it too complex?
