La pieve di San Giovanni nel cimitero di Campiglia Marittima è un luogo di straordinaria suggestione e grande bellezza. La chiesa del 1173 fu costruita in posizione panoramica e pian piano intorno nacque il cimitero. Oggi 500 lapidi con iscrizioni leggibili e databili tra 800 e 900, circondano la pieve romanica.
Tutto l'edificio è stato oggetto di un bel restauro conservativo, e la visita a questo luogo meraviglioso e panoramico sorprende e commuove ogni volta che ci fermiamo a leggere le parole d'amore strappato incise in queste pietre.
The parish church of San Giovanni in the Campiglia Marittima cemetery is a place of extraordinary charm and great beauty. The church of 1173 was built in a panoramic position and the cemetery was slowly built around it.
Today, 500 tombstones with legible inscriptions dating back to between the 1800s and 1900s surround the Romanesque parish church.
The whole beautiful building has been restored and the visit to this marvelous and panoramic place is touching and fascinating.
