Absolutely! And please keep the setting. We all know that film noir is 1940s L.A. - before cars got tail fins and lost them again. Spoiler alert!!! There is a way to bring Phelps back. We didn't see him die. Jason Bourne anyone? Phelps can be a private detective now (say one year later: 1948). No amnesia - and his old colleagues are still around, some bitching, some helping him out. That would be just perfect!

You are right. The conection is with Brendan McNamara who directed The Getaway and later founded Bondi Studio, He also wrote an directed L.A. Noire.
The two burglary detectives, Caldwell and McManus (Manifest Destiny) are named after two Scottish footballers who both played in defence for Celtic. Previous Rockstar links to Celtic can be found in the virtual horse racing in GTA San Andreas, where one horse is named Henrik's Jaw, a reference to Celtic legend Henrik Larsson suffering a broken jaw not long before the game's release.
My most favorite game ever made
Max Payne 2 had some insane graphics for 2003.
Okay, so the guy in the orange shirt is not a direct reference to "Two and a Half Men". He just has an orange shirt. Second, the Mad Men episode where Ken Cosgrove tap dances came out two years after LA Noire. The fact that Max Payne lives in apartment 304A is merely a coincidence (in LA Noire, the A is simply for Antonia). All of the husbands in the Homicide cases have lost their wives, are they all references to Max Payne as well? The Getaway is not a Rockstar Game... "Stairway to Heaven" is a real cocktail. The hat in the bin isn't even the same time of hat as John Marston's. The Pig N Whistle was a real chain of cafe from L.A, it's not a specific reference to Chinatown. Also, a Pig N Whistle doesn't even APPEAR in Chinatown! There's no Chandler book called "The Big Sheep", did you mean "The Big Sleep"? The SW on the radio stands for "Short Wave", and the only sounds you picked up were the local radio...not unusual. Aside from that, interesting video!

I can understand everything you're saying except for the max Payne Easter egg. It's a clear intended nod to a game they've made in the past. The point of an Easter egg can sometimes be that subtle and 'coincidental' because it's hidden in plain sight. Rockstar are known for putting small detail Easter eggs like that in other games as well.
@lieutenantjoker2957
4 жыл бұрын
@@WuTangWarrior Rockstar didn't make Max Payne though. They own the IP now and they made the third game but at the time they didn't own and they hadn't made a Max Payne game. Also L.A Noire at first wasn't even made by rockstar, Later they turned into rockstar whatever but they were just a developer under Take Two interactive.
@lieutenantjoker2957
4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, A lot of them are a big stretch and some are blatantly wrong and the video has a lot of incorrect information. Like Rockstar didn't develop Max Payne, and you could say L.A Noire wasn't even a rockstar game, because at the time the developers had a different name, but shortly before the game came out Take Two interactive (who owned Rockstar and this studio) just made them into a new rockstar studio in sydney. That's it.

idk if this counts as a secret but "tylor chase" the actor who plays martin in neds declassified plays minor character hank newbern and also exists as an npc throughout the game. which as someone who grew up watching neds declassified its so funny to see martin roaming 1950's LA in full regalia.

such a nice video!
You forgot a few things, in the notebook that had fake names (that were actually real) you could flip to the next page for more names. Also, in the first patrol case where you visit the apartment to apprehend Schroeder you can see that on the apartment mail box there is a Friday the 13th reference with the name "T. Jarvis" on the 4th room.

I'd add the character Curtis Benson which to me is obviously named after Curtis Hanson, director of "L.A. Confidential".
Good Easter eggs bro
The cowboy riding the mechanical horse in the opening cutscene is wearing John Marstons actual hat.
I've got one more. Dr. Harlan Fontaine and Micah Bell from Red Dead Redemption 2 have been mo-capped by the same actor.

6:25 The names in the El Mar Hotel registry aren't really proper Easter eggs. It's understood this is the kind of hotel where people don't register under their real names, but rather use the name of a famous person instead.
Also with the Nero Wolffe thing, there's another one that reads L. Dudley, which is probably a reference to leautenant Dudley, from the LA Quartet book series which this game borrows a lot from

You missed an Easter egg or Reference. In the first mission "Upon Reflection", If you check at the names at the notebook at the gun shop carefully, you will see a last name "Rosenberg" which references "Ken Rosenberg" from GTA Vice City.
i wonder if when he mentions Galloway is a drunk, if "Bekowsky" was hinting to the writer, Charles Bukowski, since he lived in the LA noire times off of Hollywood blvd
That Mark Hammond thing is funny because this game really reminds you of the getaway with it graphical styling

Thanks for the video! When I played this back in 2011 I did realize that the dude in the orange shirt did look like the guy from "2 and a half men"
Could that 9:57 be Armando Mendez reference to VCS character?
damn some of those references ars so subtle.
4:04, That cowboy's hat looks like something, you would find in RDR2 and it also looks like John's hat in that game before the timeskip.

In the first case in the gun order book you can see O'Hara. He uses the same gun as Michael O'Hara from The lady from Shanghai. Anyone else saw that?

LA Noire, Midnight Club and Max Payne are in the same universe (Because they based real life city, of course) GTA, BULLY, and MANHUNT are in the same UNIVERSE ALSO. IS RED DEAD IS THE SAME UNIVERSE AS LA NOIRE, MIDNIGHT CLUB and MAX PAYNE? Well, they references New York and real life city, so I think they are connected.

I always thought Jack Kelso's office building looked a lot like the one in Double Indemnity
I think the black caesar case is a reference to Frankie Lymon who was a singer in a boy group they made that song “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” he died from a heroin overdose in 68 at the age of 25. Well at least how they made the morphine overdose victim a musician as well
Omg the ending :") they they all laughed very hard :").. we need la noire 2 !!!!
Jon Cryer isnt in L.A. Noire, but a lot of other actors are that you didnt mention, which makes sense since it is real actors playing all the characters.
The Mark Hammond Easter egg is cool except The Getaway wasn’t developed by Rockstar it was developed by Team Soho, the guy who founded Team Bondi (the developers of LA Noire) is also the guy who directed The Getaway so thats the connection

There was a rattlesnake sound when you picked up the hat at 6:10 on Xbox. At least when I played it.
u forgot about Garrett Mason's appearance in the hit and run case when u first the knife in the first sweep
The tap dancing scene is NOT a EASTER EGG it was JUST A CONINCIDENCE as the mad men episode with that didn't come out till 2 years AFTER LA NOIRE even released!! It's funny as that's the most replayed thing in the video but is actually not a EE unless mad men is actually referencing LA noire somehow
The Black guy who said this is a tasty burger is officer tempinny from gta SA
What about the very first case's last location. At Schroeder's apartment!? It's heavily inspired by Max Payne's apartment!
Acthaully the mad men reference at the crime scene is an accident because the tap dancing clip is from season 6, which came out in 2013, l.a noire came out in 2011
The Big Sheep!? The book/movie was The Big Sleep. It's a euphemism for death. Did you fall asleep counting sheep?

At 6:44 I think “Pig N Whistle”could be also Referring to Peg Entwistle too.
L.A. Noire 2 is sneaking up on us, the blocked roads on the map tell off.
