Harry Ballzac literally hockey or sports in general at the professional level is a business and if you’re not doing you’re job right they have someone right there to replace you. Whoever will win the most games.

I’m 48 and past my prime but I was living the experience through you; that looked like a lot of fun. Great job and I hope to see you in the pros.

Hey Trav! If this doesn’t work out, I know that you said you were looking for a team for next year and I would recommend they KC Mavericks. They are an ECHL team affiliated with the Flames. They usually pull a few thousand people per game and have a decent team. Just an idea

Seeing the actual tryout drills made me smile. Reminded me of the Pixar film, Kung Fu Panda, where the protagonist discovers the ultimate secret is there is no secret ingredient. The drills are the same drills any goalie coach would have 14U to 18U+ goalies do in practice. While goaltending had changed over the years, from stand up, to butterfly, to hybrid, regardless, it all comes down to your atheletic ability. Sure genetics helps, but in the end, have the goalie pushed themselves hard enough, done enough reps, perfected their craft enough, shown the same dedication one would need to go from a regular ground combat troop, to special forces. The job of a grunt isn't drastically different, the dedication needed and drive, how much preparation have you done, how much are you willing to take and sacrifice to get to where you want to be, did you make those gut checks and push yourself past what you perceive are your physical and mental limits, that's the difference.

I had to give up goalie this year bc of serious hip problems. Was a really hard pill to swallow. Keep having fun out there boys! Without a doubt the most fun position in any sport! Nice job finding the stones to show up and do that! Looks like you put on an alright show too eh? Cheers

For those of you wondering if he got chosen, it's obviously a no! I don't mean that in a bad way, but for the fact that he is not from LA/ California, so they were never going to take him. Even if they did, it would have been morally reprehensible on the Kings behalf, because it would have meant this guy leaving school to live in LA. It doesn't sound like the Kings paid anything to help him get out there either. And an emergency backup goalie doesn't get paid anything as far as I know. If he does, I would be shocked if it was more than a few thousand dollars. The NHL made it so that emergency goalies are to be at every home game, so no doubt they chose one or two guys that live in LA, and who would be able to come to games on a regular basis. The Kings didn't necessarily choose the best goalie. For example: The Calgary Flames Have two emergency goalies, and they work out a schedule so that one of them is at every game. Coleman Volrath played one year at the University of Calgary in 16-17 and had a very good WHL career. The other guy is Todd Ford who is a full time fireman in Calgary, also is a highly regarded goaltending coach. He works for a big goaltending company in Calgary, and also is the goaltending coach for the Mount Royal University Men's and Women's teams. In addition to all that he was a legit pro goalie drafted by the Maple Leafs, and splitting time in the AHL and ECHL for 8 years before turning to the coaching side. Great dude! Well known, highly regarded, and extremely well liked in Calgary/ Alberta hockey!
