This is the guitar track from Guitar Hero 3, in which the game allows you to isolate the guitar when playing. All of the re-recorded tracks were performed Steve Ouimette, including this one.

Solophent II Slow Ride, Holiday in Cambodia, Black Sunshine, and She Bangs the Drums was done by WaveGroup. Line 6 actually did this along with Rock and Roll All Nite, Black Magic Woman, Pride and Joy, and Cliffs of Dover as the credits says "Courtesy of Line 6."

Still sounds fucking GREAT after all these years! Warts noise and all.

1:21. The solo tone is completely off and there is an incidental pitch harmonic at this recording that isn't on the original. That and everything else. Totally get that isolated tracks cannot be compared in tone to a mix but, assuming we are saying this is the solo track used on the original, calling bull on this one.

Gain sounds different when isolated away from other instruments and playing in a studio often requires a different tone than playing live.

C'mon people! Don't BS guitar players. That is NOT Billy G. Not even close. Just compare the intro to the original. Billy Gibbons was playing very low volume with a dry (no effects) sound. Not a bad cover - it's just not Billy.

misleading title for this video since the audio is not from any ZZTop recording, it's not badly done but for sure is not Mr Gibbons playing guitar in it ... FAKE!

This is not from the final recording. The tip off is a small noise during the main A riff right after the 1st solo...kind of a string noise that is evident. It's nicely done. Whether it is Billy is debatable..if it is him, it could be some type of provisional solo or another take. It's just not the solos or rhythm parts done for the finished record.

+Iván Vivanco If you A/B this with the released recording you'll see it's not the same track...also, the solos are different. Also, as I said originally, it doesn't have that little sound after the 1st solo on the left side guitar when he goes to the main riff.

Are you serious? Are you genuinely this dumb or are you just pretending? It's so people can hear the guitar tone more clearly or so people can hear his playing more clearly. (That being said this isn't actually Billy, it's from a video game where they covered it all as closely as possible).

That's not Billy Gibbons' plectrum technique and certainly ain't his vibrato. Gonna have to call bullshit on this.

at first I adamantly thought this wasn't Billy. But listening to again closely it sounds like his playing. It's just not the original recording track. Sounds like either outtakes or some re-recording they might've done. Could possibly be the feed into a reverb chamber during mixing.

I don't know about this specific song, but a LOT of the Guitar hero tracks are re-recorded, some by the original artists and some by other players. When isolated, any track by itself may not sound "right", but this clearly does not sound like it could be the original. It sounds like there is at least one effect, chorus to my ears, that was not on the original. This may not matter, since I'm only guessing there is chorus being used, bur the first true chorus effect was not until 1975, when Roland developed it for the Jazz Chorus amp. Boss put that circuit in the first pedal in 1976. La Grange was recorded in 1973. If there is chorus on here, it ain't Billy, or it was added later.

I have the master track for what's goin on by Marvin Gaye, isolated it's fucking terrible, you wouldn't actually believe any pro's recorded it but put it together and mix it and it sounds amazing.

Studies of Gibbons since the 70’s. Now a retired Nashville session player. This is not Billy. Not just because of the guitar tone, but the intricate note inaccuracies. And just wrong notes in key spots.

It's from Guitar Hero, and is a re-cording. A lot of Guitar Hero tracks were done for the game, either by the original artists, or hired guns. Don't know which it is for this, but it ain't Billy Gibbons 1973 original. It sounds like it has processing/effects that weren't even around in 73.

This is most definitely NOT Billy gibbons. It is not even a good cover. Billy is much more tasteful. Some of the phrasing is different. The guitar tone is not close.
