Gibara, Cuba: The 19th Century legend 'La Copa del Amor' is shrouded in mystery. Versions of the romantic sea-shanty are told and retold in the coastal village of Gibara, and the mystery is unveiled in this film. The young Adolfo is lost at sea, his lover Ignacia grieves. Adolfo finds his way to Ignacia's door, but the shock of seeing him is too much for the grieving woman, and she falls dead. Adolfo cuts a lock of hair from his true love's head, and crafts a tableau... a tableau depicting her burial site. Set to the casual performances of local musicians, we journey from seaside to tombstone, and en route we begin to perceive the romantic heart of Gibara.
