La Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) | From the Heart of the World - The Elder Brother's Warning

For more information about the Kogi and the Lost City (Ciudad Perdida): www.laciudadperdida.com
From the Heart of the World - The Elder Brothers Warning is a documentary about the Kogi people who inhabit the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain in northern Colombia.
Direct descendants of the Tayrona people they survived Spanish Conquistadors - a feat no other tribe can claim. Long thought extinct, they reappeared from their mountain home to warn the world about the harmful damage it was causing.
This documentary explores the traditions of the Kogi people and the wisdom they have learnt in their peaceful existence with the land they inhabit.
You can visit actual Kogi villages during the hike to La Ciudad Perdida (the Lost City), the ancient city of Teyuna in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain.

The scene at 18:45 and his speech.. It's pure poetry. Astonishingly beautiful, we should take our elder brothers as an example, for they know what the true way of life is. Just saddening what a wonderful culture we have destroyed merely because of our ignorance. I'm deeply ashamed of the European people that conquered their land and even more ashamed that still to this date we haven't learned from our mistakes.

Huge thanks for making this available this way; I'd purchased the DVD from Global Spirit in March 2014, but now it is owned exclusively by BBC, and I've not been able to find a way to own it again. I want to play it for everyone I know, but the first person I loaned it too has misplaced it, so I'm very grateful to see this again. I feel it should be required viewing for the entire citizenry of the world... Thank you for making this accessible....now to go order Aluna! Big Love, Peace to you!

The love is real with the people. The Mamo intelligence lies within all of Mankind. There's so much we can learn from all the 9 brothers. Just think how far we've come. That includes the younger and elder brothers wrongs and rights. If we've gained any insight into why we're here it must've began with the love of the Mother.

Fascinating, brilliantly composed documentary. On one hand, it's wonderful to know that such an ancient people still exists, and are able to maintain their culture of love and respect for the Earth... On the other hand, their strident intensity may be due to being mildly coked up all the time. And growing up in such a rigid, cult-like society probably isn't as fun as it looks...

We have so much to learn, it's so sad to think that we have lost so much and live like stumbling fools, unconsciously forgetting to honour and appreciate the skills of our ancestors, who were such effective and aware planetary guardians. Our contribution - over-consumption, pollution, destroying habitats and species we should be assisting - how insensitive are we become! No wonder the Kogi do not wish us to walk their paths, until we can do so with humility, openness, respect and attention.

Gold is the most conductive thing we could have. I do hear the Mamos message it also means that younger brother has a say too. Our differences mean little when the elder brother and younger learn to understand Aluna in each way imaginable. From what I gather the idea is nearly the same as a Yin Yang metaphor. Man is constantly trying to help itself out for the better of itself in the world.

I think we have to focus on ourselves.. buy less things, only buy what you need, buy used, start trying to grow our own food, start moving towards a way of life that would support a healthy planet. We're in a huge mess for sure.

@ xu Misa please excuse my ignorance or lack there of understanding or misunderstanding the meaning of your words... such as "our" pain, "simple" & "candle burning out" & "self polishing" are your implicit ways of thinking are of ease when seen through your eyes or points of viewing such matters, also self polishing is this your way of describing to someone like myself in layman's terms, mean self generation, sourcing within one's self for an alternative energy source due to ones own depleted power supply/reserves? Is a human beings life or one's fleshly vessel ( body/physical form" just a shell of protection that which embodies the energetic "light/life- force/source" of (ones soul) ? If I'm coming to the overstanding that it's not what one thinks but what one knows without explanation nor question free of doubt or speculation. Than simplicity is non existant by definition in accordance to present day "modern man" and his ways of living harmoniously with mother earth/nature. Since the dawning of "man kind" and sense of SELF... independence, self reliant, SELFISHNESS , selfless, self worth, and self made, self confidently, self sufficiently managed by himself for himself with himself alone has self destructed, self sabotaged dry SNITCHED on himself self destroyed himself into a blurred distortion of selflessness, selfishness. Self defining self describing self proclaimed co-existing and ways of living and man's inception within the ebbs and flows of such. Man's not a good sport nor a team player even though it's all 4 one and one 4 all. With ONE subscribed membership. If that saying holds true "the eye's are the windows of the soul", theres than theres no shielding my eyes from man's egotistical, pompous, attitudes or his "it's my way or the highway" mentality the travesties mans committed against mankind and its own insurmountable totalitarianisms and perpetrations upon this earth. WITH painful Undeniable TRUTH of mans own vulgaris attitude, self inflicted disconnections. Refusing to play his part OR purpose in life. being a PIECE OF or BEING A working part OF A well oiled fully functioning machine. INSTEAD... well need I say more n drag this any further self taught is as redundant as self birthed, and self breast fed, self raised that has gotten us into the RUT, JAM, FIX, Pickle in other words WORLD OF TROUBLE EMERGENCY VOLITIVAL DANGEROUS PREDICTERMENT NEGATIVELY PAINFUL.. REALITY OF SORTS

Spanish government will have to take the responsibility for all the harm their ancestors have made to so many indigeneous people all around the world. Like most of the occidental governments actually. What french and english did to indians of north america or in Australia for ex, it's the same. Someday we will have to take the responsibility to ask forgiveness to them. Because this is the only way to heal and bring a unify world. You can feel how deep the pain is for the Kogis, for what they have been through with the Spanish and after. They have been murdered. Even if they have a huge heart and so wise, they deserve that we recognize the harm we did to them and to make amend. Until then, our souls are still carrying the wrongs of our ancestors like a curse, like a poison, like a cancer.

8020 /2LOL I think that one guy got chewed out. They are a quite people it seems. I'm a bit surprised that they allowed any outsiders into their city. I think I'd meet them away from the city out of fear they be a repeat of 500 years ago. The 18 year old boy looks like an innocent 3 -5 year old trying a new food for the first time . These people are amazing! I'd like to see an update... I saw one posted 2018. I think I could live a like this. I sure wouldn't have the heart to be digging up graves for gold rings. I'd feel like I was committing murder. Isn't it odd that so many old cultures had pretty much a common story about creation? I think their system is far better than the other religions... religions full of wars, and causing harm. Wow 9 worlds and the Cross again. The respect women more than any other culture I know of. They are the ones who must be right.

I enjoyed this and I like the way they live but the translation can’t be that accurate surely? If they were hidden away for years and speak so differently Like accent Greek and all them to English I try not to take it all but just main points

Not quite so. A Kogi's carbon footprint will never be as big as yours. No kogis are coming to your front door digging huge holes and extracting resources. The Kogis practice collective work and thinking. Your society abdicated (willingly or unwillingly) decision making to corporations and politicians. And I'm just scratching the surface here.
