Gosh, listening to this brings back SO many fond memories of the beginning of my anime era (DN was my first ever anime. Out of all the other thousands out there, I'm really glad that I had *this* classic masterpiece introduce me to the world of anime ngl). Still remains one of my top ten, even to this day ❤

Seems like most of the comments here are jokes and memes, but all these years later I’m still mesmerized by this series. This theme in particular was always so entrancing. I have a vivid memory of a night after working a wedding when I had a horrible job at a catering company: I already hated my job and life, and had been treated horribly by some guests. So there I was afterward, just sitting quietly and despondent in a college dorm room with a friend who has since become my wife. She was cycling through cable and a random rerun of this show was on as she clicked through channels. It was during a contemplative scene when this was playing, and she noticed that I reacted with just my face and a slight straightening in posture, like something had touched me. It was super random given that I’d watched the show many years earlier, but something about this tune at that time was just what I needed to hear to pull my head out of a dark place.

2:43 hearing since i was a kid and still gives me goosebumps like the very first time.

Story time: I remember when i was just a little boy, 5 years old, and i was given a book to read about the blue family and the yellow family, they’re literally just colored dots, and the story ends with both families merging, becoming the green family. Some time later, i was coloring a carrot after i was done with my homework, then, i notice to my dismay that the green pencil is missing, i couldn’t color the stem. I sat there, thinking whether or not there was a way to color it, then i remembered the blue and yellow family. I still had my blue and yellow pencils, so i decided to use both colors on the stem, hoping it would work, and it did. Never in my life have i felt so smart, this theme does nothing but make me remember precious moments like these where i felt a genius.
