I prefer the slow pace like the one in 1959 - slow and steady conveys solidarity and unyielding will. That is what you need to transform a poor country into a prosperous nation even in the face of insurmountable odds and uncertainty. The fast pace like the 1969 version seems a bit too enthusiastic to me - the March of the Volunteers is a song to inspire people during the genocidal war against the Chinese - it should be solemn rather than optimistic.

However with the rise in capitalist equality, the state needed to boost nationalism in order to hide the fact that they had abandoned Stalinist economics. Today the PRC is what the ROC under Chiang-Kai-Shek on Taiwan was. A authoritarian state-capitalist regime that is build around a single party state.

Those opening lyrics (at least for me) emphasizes a goal of real Socialism... to create a Fair World where All are Equal.

Yes and that is why China should not completely abandon Socialism. The West will take advantage of China having no more Communist Party rule and help set the country up to collapse. They will first encourage Tibet and the Xinjiang region to break away so that the US can put military bases there like they did with Eastern Europe and parts of the former Soviet Union. Though most likely Xinjiang will fall under Radical Terrorists control. Then the Government of Taiwan (with US backing) will return to Beijing and proclaim themselves the rulers of China. After which the US military and naval forces will be allowed to station troops in parts of China. Like most places under US occupation... violent crimes committed by US service men will be the norm. The Chinese People will be forced to accept this and look the other way. Although the Chinese People might be fooled to think they have "more freedom"... they will in reality be enslaved under American control... and probably not realize it.

The 1950 version sounds like it’s being played by a kazoo in the beginning
