They are among the very best flute players in the world and their abilities are extraordinary. Movements may or may not improve intonation, but they do contribute to the musicianship of the piece.

Beautiful performance. I would love to hear this with two violins as well.

The gymnastics of the flutists is so unnecessary, and the ones at the beginning actually made me laugh! I’m also a flutist and know I very well that twisting and bowing do not improve your sound, at all, nor does it assist in fingering, nor does it do anything for your musical abilities…in fact, all it does is detract your audience from the beauty of your playing.

You are basically correct and that's the approach flutists should generally take. However, when you are world-class like Pahud, he already has a solid foundation and sometimes the physical manifestations of the emotions in the body and help reinforce what is being played. So 99.9999% you are correct, but there are a few outliers like Pahud to which that rule doesn't apply. He is super intelligent and everything he does has a meaning.
