In the Movie Omen 3:The Final Conflict, Damien was using excerpts from this book as prayers to his father, Satan.

An excellent short review. This book might disappoint people looking for Gothic or occult thrills, but it's an excellent novel of the French decadent period.

I have never heard of this before but I was so pleased to now know!

I loved this book! I read it mid 2019. Happy New year!

I just bought a copy from 1935, I can't wait to read it!

One of the best opening chapters of any book I've read

its funny that it reminds you of Oscar Wilde, Huysmans more famous book 'a rebours' is more than likely the inspiration for the yellow book in a picture of Dorian Gray.

Christopher Lee is one of my favorite actors and an all around amazing human. He’s surprisingly ignorant on occultism though, given how many people think he’s an expert.

Was there ever a film adaptation made?

Huysmans (Say "we-smans, smans prononced like "swans" but with a -m instead or a -w, if that make sens to you..) is not a french name but a dutch one, because his father was dutch.

Winning a Nobel doesn't make you a classic...but yeah The Good Earth is a classic as is Là-Bas.
