This and the coffee cake were my favorite! I was a Student for the LA school district in the 80s when school lunches and breakfast were amazing.

I loved the peanut butter cake as well from LAUSD back in the 80’s but the peanut butter icing was definitely a thicker consistency yet soft. I will definitely try this recipe and use my own icing. I’m sure the cake is delicious 😋

Me too! These were my favorite. The peanut butter bread was only once a month and then they discontinued it.

I wanted to cry too. I've thought about this bread for year. I liked it better than the coffee cake.

This was my favorite thing to eat for breakfast. I went to elementary school in L.A. in the 80's then my family moved back to Pittsburgh and I longed for this warm delicious peanut butter cake ever since. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤

I'm literally crying and super excited to bake this tomorrow because right now is midnight lol... This here was my favorite bread in my LA school. I remember secretly taking 1 or 2 pieces home when my friends didn't want theirs and yes I had to hide it from the lunch area ladies or I'd be in trouble. Isn't sad they would rather toss out left overs instead of passing them out to needed families? Anyway I had always miss this cake Once my kids started in school I'd asked them about this bread and if it was still served but the answer was no, the cafeteria no longer baked it. I looked up other recipes for peanut butter bread and they never tasted the same. Right now I was telling my youngest daughter about it and for some reason felt the need to google "peanut butter bread" and guess what!!! The 1st thing that came up was this video. I started jumping and laughing because I couldn't believe it. I truly appreciate it. This really brings me lots of joy but also bittersweet memories that I embraced dearly. I remember taking this home because we did not have money for food sometimes or warm meals at least not until my parents would come back from work. This was very delicious and kept me full for hours. Looks good...mmmmm Here in Mississippi, we high stepped into breakfast one morning my senior year of high school, and were greeted to 3 or 4 sliced canned peaches and some cornbread from the day before....I lost my faith in the world that day....lol

This was my favorite breakfast at school, I"d love it, great memories 😊

LAUSD here Marvin ave elementary school, I remember this came as a small loaf so delicious. No icing on ours, I remember cinnamon and brown sugar on top with peanuts.

I loved the peanut butter bread, but I remember it with a crumble on top just like the coffee cake. I think the crumble included chopped peanuts. I went to school in the San Fernando Valley in the 80’s and 90s.

After the bread has cooled You can put the icing and peanuts on top.

Linda Mckinney They are sooo good. So rare do I come across them. Someone brought a tray of them to a party not too long ago. Amazingly from WinCo. One day I'll go see if they still make them. My Mom used to work in the kitchen and would make them for us during the summer. Sadly she isn't baking the same anymore. She can't get the recipe right. Lol
