KZN taxi strike suspended

The disruptive taxi strike that broke out early this morning in Durban, has been suspended and the affected roads reopened. That's after leaders of the Durban Long Distance Taxi Association met with KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Taxi operators took to the streets to register their anger at the impounding of their taxis, and arrest of their drivers. They accuse the Public Transport Enforcement Unit, Operation Shanela, of targeting them.

For context this is the most dangerous taxi rank in South Africa. For the Police to handle it like this yesterday was the most professional thing ever. Well done General Mkhwanazi and team. This is the a big up to all the teams involved

They don't "run" the country. They are just business people who just want to do their work and earn money. They don't earn a single cent from protesting and getting arrested. So all that needs to be done is for the state to do its job and issue permits to authorized associations without delay and let them do their jobs.
