I’m going to Japan in July! Is eating allowed on the shinkansen? I assumed no since I’ve seen lots of posts about not eating on the street?

Eating is allowed on shinkansen! :) There are even these bento boxes called ekiben (“eki” means train station and “ben” is short for bento meaning lunch box) that many people buy at the station to enjoy while they ride the shinkansen 🍱 Or you can just eat anything you want 😊 Have a great trip in July!

It’s actually allowed. I ate many times on the shinkansen during my travel from Tokyo to Hokkaido and Hokkaido to Osaka :)

@@MichelleKanemitsu apologies. Kyoto. So you carried your suitcases all around Kyoto on your day trip??

No. In the morning, we left our luggage at the front desk of the hotel after checking out. Then at the end of the day, we went back and picked up our luggage before catching the shinkansen.
