Mitchell's being funny and it's partially true, English people still do eat a lot of food at their keyboards. But thankfully not all of them anymore, and thankfully London is also now full of non-English people, and eating culture has become 100 times better, and there are actually a ton of great affordable and non-posh places to eat in London with high quality food from all over the world (not sure how it is in other UK cities, it's still mostly pretty bad in the country and small towns in both England and Scotland)

  • @eightiesmusic1984

You make a fair point and it is good if there are more affordable places and different types of food for people to eat at in London. It is dire in the rest of the UK for the most part. I noticed when Mitchell was speaking that he referred to 'posh' food. It is a reflection on the class system that is so entrenched in Britain that everyday food on the continent is often labelled posh here.

@@eightiesmusic1984 dunno, I think he means proper posh food though, like fine dining restaurants. And that used to be true, even as recently as 15-20 years ago you could say most good food in London was in those kinds of establishments. But the level of "street food" and lunch break type food has improved massively in the last decade or so imo, and I give credit to both the expats who brought much of this food and to British Londoners for embracing it and kind of redefining their own food culture and food standards.

It's funny but it's not worth sitting through the build up.

I completely disagree with David here…I know he’s doing a bit but it’s still what he believes and I think it’s BS. In those countries he mentions where they love food, not every meal is some sumptuous feast, people in mainland Europe eat quick convenience food, and here I know that me and my wife and a lot of people we know definitely take care in what we eat in the evenings, make an effort with the lunches we take to work, take time over a good breakfast at the weekends…

But if he’d said that it wouldn’t have been funny, would it?!

I cringe watching Mitchell waffling on in the vain hope of accidently saying something funny and then resorting to swearing because it shocks people into laughing.

What's up with the chaotic and distracting set design? For one, the metallic horizontal bar above the guests feels heavy and out of proportion, diminishing the presence of the guests and the host as well as the overall vibe and space. How on earth someone thought this was a good idea?
