As weird as it could sound for some, Kylie’s voice was the first thing about her that got me, more than her amazing performances which I got to know later on. If you are used to pop music (as I am), and mostly the Pop Divas, you can clearly recognise her by her nasal, high and smooth notes, and mostly her capacity to perform her songs and make them sound almost exactly like in the studio versions. Just a few have that capacity (e.g. Lady Gaga, Adele), and you should definitely give her credit for that. She sings pop, but a well-crafted and almost out-of-the-spectrum one and not just commercial stuff. All the love for Kylie, one of the best Pop Divas of all times!💜

It is a myth that Kylie and Dannii sound alike. They are certainly more than distinguishable now. While Dannii might have the deeper voice she is also more nasal too. Where Kylie shines in my opinion is in her head voice. Her lower register has never been the strongest aspect but she has worked on it and her technique is flawless.

Thank you, HVC, for your diplomatic and fair appraisal of Madonna's career arc. I've said for a while now that Kylie is like Madonna minus the Art and Politics. Kylie is a good time girl and a top notch entertainer. Madonna, of course, is the one who really set the standard for ALL subsequent pop acts and changed the way pop music is presented, both in videos and live performances. But she aspires to change the world in an even more profound way and taking that kind of stance is always going to frighten people and consequently alienate them. Many of us may feel Madonna has many bizarre eccentricities. Well, duh. Look at her life. Who wouldn't be little batty living life like a public commodity? She's been discussed, criticized, demonized even....as much as she's been made an icon of. Neither can be any easy thing to live with. Because as she has said, if you listen to and believe in the people who love you, you have to do the same for those who don't. Sorry this so long! Was determined to be succinct lol oops! Thanks for reading and keep doing what you do, Honest Vocal Coach!

As much as I also love Madonna and have done for over 35 years, it’s so annoying when people feel the need to bring her up in Kylie conversations and vice versa. And it’s almost always in a negative comparison way so some fanatic has another lame excuse to call Kylie a copycat or a pale imitation. Stop putting female singers against each other and celebrate what makes them great as individuals.

ABBA and others eg Diana Ross used to speed up the finals recordings to make the tracks slightly faster and higher pitched to help give a different tone to the layered vocals as well (a common technique in the studios)

One can never forget the contribution of Miriam Stockley to the background vocals of PWL productions. She is an amazing vocalist, also the original vocalist of Adiemus (famous for their British Airways advert featuring their self-titled single and for always getting mistaken for Enya). She also did backing vocals for Katrina and The Waves "Love Shine A Light" when the UK won Eurovision in 1997. She's released several solo albums, and since she's from South Africa, many of her solo songs feature a very African chanting sound in several African languages especially Xhosa. Other backing singers for PWL included Tessa Niles & Tracey Ackerman, both outstanding vocalists still working today.

This has been one of my most absolute favorite videos on youtube. Not a vocalist at all but Kylie's voice is pretty fascinating. I wonder how much distinction plays in.....or if a more primal sense how attention grabbing sung vocal ranges are when they almost hit a whine of sorts. Would love to hear the psychology behind it.

Thanks for giving love and credit #KylieMinogue 👑 💜🎧 All music is social/political commentary of the times weather thats its intent or not... vocalists/songwriters are dying in the music industry.... its all fluff now Latin music who had so much soul, life, and culture is losing its fire and so dim... make me sad... we need all kinds of music radio programmers and studio executives need to stop distilling music real music... we are toying younger generation to not have an ear or appreciation for music, lyrics, instruments, craftsmanship.... i know money moves it but man its sad to contribute to the demise of real music...

@@thingthang2904 but listen to the difference between her early stuff from the late 80s and now. It's like she has a cold when she's singing . It's much more nasal than it used to be. Listen to Lcomotion compared to now. You'll hear a difference. Even Georgina has mentioned her nasal tone.

I'm into a band named Shinee who are a K-POP band. They are awesome. They were striving to obtain emancipation from their managers. The lead singer had made great strides towards this. He was writing and involved in more artistic decisions regards the group. Sadly he killed himself last year. You should look him up. He was the first to try and change things.

I am a big fan of Kylie since her first single. Pop singers can sing, but they are restricted due to their style. Best singers are outside of Pop: Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins, Simone Simons (Epica), Anneke Van Giersbergen (Ex-The Gathering, involved in many projects), Liv Kristine (ex-Leaves Eyes / ex-Theatre Of Tragedy), Elina Siirala (Leaves Eyes), Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Tarja (ex-Nightwish), Elize Ryde (Amaranthe), etc.
