3:43 oldest tram alive

people extremly nice, everything very cheap, and the spirit of the city is indescribable! I'm back as soon as possible, hopefully for longer time. до побачення from Czech!

must admit. it is impressive how solid those old trams must be to survive the spit and bailing wire type maintenance of the infrastructure and trams themselves. modern trams would have been permanently broken within 5 years running under those conditions. maybe 10 with some creative repairs.

Very impressive video! I listened to it with a subwoofer, wow... At 0:30 you can hear the PCC-car's typical "bang"-sounds when main relay switches off if driver lefts his feet away from the "gas"-pedal. So the approaching train announces itself from far away :) I know Tatra T3s from my visits in Eastern Germany (GDR) and Prague/CSSR about 20 years ago. But later they build in quiet thyristor controls instead of the mechanical PCC-accelerator...

In horrible condtitions. Poor czech technology. These trams are treated as gold in Czech Republic (in Brno) and still going very well

Yeah the tram system in Kyiv is in a terrible shape. The metal bases of seats are rusty, it's dirty and smelly inside. In a hot summer the oil runs out from the chassis and makes black asphalt trails on tracks. The exterier of vehicles was last time repainted 40 years ago I guess. I've seen tracks so destroyed that they were even missing - the tram simply had to pass over a holes in tracks. God I loved it it was so poetical! Kyiv is an outstanding city, beautiful architecture, buildings repaired

What makes me even more sad is that Kiev’s trams still look the same, just with a few new cars.

Quality Czech trams survive everything.

I have traveled on these trams.and although they are charming... I was amazed that a modern western country could operate something so old and think it was okay.

Mr Skoda yes, i take some photos. I was a school-boy. I remember a beautiful monastery and a big victory woman on a hill with a flame. I lost my photos. 😞

Bidone1967 oh, that’s sad. But Kyiv in 1984 looked much better than nowadays... It was greener, and infrastructure was in good condition mostly... And much tram lines were scrapped in early 2000-s( But something good is still exist there:)

The roads are really worse than Lviv, at least the roads in Lviv are neat and not dirty. The roads in Kiev just look like they haven't fixed for at least 10 years!!

Reminiscent of the soviet era. Great!

The trams are functional, there is no shame using them, these were quite comfortable and easy to maintain. The rails however need an improvement. Newer trams are heavier, and more sensitive to bad rails.

LINE N°5: Biggest scandal in Kiev's traffic policy ever, done by apperatchiks of the former regime: THE ABANDONMENT OF THE DNEPR-LINE CROSS (LATER TO) PATTON BRIDGE !!! An extremly undemocratic action against the citizen's will, happened in 2005 and 2011. And this, JUST FOR A TURNAROUND OF CAR TRAFFIC, which to build worth more important than the interests of thousands of passengers of Kiev's public transport, being ignored for decades. What a joke ! This main arterial road is collapsing every day by traffic congestion, while the former track embankment is still laying there empty, where the tram had the right-of-way to pass passengers from metro to downtown quickly ! PLEASE MAYOR KLITSCHKO, REMOVE THIS STUPIDNESS AND REVIVE THE RIVER TRAM !!! By the way, economicly spoken: Two separate tram networks are more expensive to operate and so more expensive for the City to run this service, than a single one. That's logic, isn't it ?!

This country starved and almost been destroyed in WW2... and if you look back in history,all Ukrainian people were enclosed to work for rich Russian people...
