Just installed believe it or not my first front door handle. I bought the Kwikset because of the adjustable connecting post on the bottom of the handle, that made it an easy perfect fit. On the old one the handle had been broken for a long time but the door still opened, closed and locked because the deadbolt still worked. I should have done this many years ago. LOL...... I'm an example that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Great video, it helped a lot !

Josh: Thanks for the great video that explains everything so well!! However, some people might have gotten mislead a little when you said (2:25) that you recommend a drill with a 1/4 inch drill bit. Hopefully everyone will realize that in some cases the 1/4" drill bit is too large. For example, when you're drilling the holes for the dead bolt strike plate (10:15), the instructions call for a 3/32 inch bit and a 1/8 inch drill bit. Also, I suggest that before you screw the strike plates down that you close the door and make sure the door shuts and locks properly. I try to avoid having to move a strike plate after it has been screwed down.

Great video, my handyman didn’t know the adjustment trick at 6:00 for right side door install. Took out the new kwikset and returned it😢 boo 😊hoo. Going back to Home Depot to buy and install it again.

Holy shit I made the tiniest but arguably worst mistake. I didn’t realize I could pull out the part around 6:07. I’ve spent HOURS trying to make this shit work. I fuckin love this man

mine was opposite as well, until i realized you can just pull the switch out, turn it, and push it back in.

That is a Gorgeous front door. The worst is when you have a dark wood front door, and a homeowner installs a yellow of silver door handle. If anyone comes across a loose door latch or deadbolt and wants a solid repair that doesn't involve glue, stick, putty, or that ugly metal sleeve that ruins the look of your door, ReSecure Latch is that answer. I have been searching for a permanent solution to repair my front door because the last maintenance guy stripped out my door by overtightening the screws. I tried a larger screw but it didn't last long. I tried finding your product at Home Depot or ACE, but they never heard of you. Where can I go to get one. These are not available on amazon either.

Dead bolt works. However, when I try and lock the door using the key, it will not turn? Any suggestions? Thanks for the informative video. Appreciate you.

Just wondering if the bottom screw should be on the inside vs outside the door? What if someone unscrews it???

Can you make the hole on the door with a screwdriver?

Having a screw in the outside of the door seems not-good.

so this does not have a lock in the bottom ? just top deadbolt?

Over time, the screws inside the knob can become loose just from day-to-day use. Mine did, to the point that the internals of the knob disintegrated. But thanks to 6:07, plus a bit of detective work, I was able to re-assemble the knob myself!

Did you not use smartkey tool?
