the Filipino fondness for tearjerkers like these goes back so many years or generations - maybe it has something to do with our years of oppression, class struggles and even widespread poverty, where they provided an outlet for expressing suppressed emotions ... there seemed to be an emphasis on how to deal with adversity and heartbreak (unlike in western developed cultures, where the emphasis was on how to take advantage of the opportunities that abounded, and to make one's mark in the world). this emotionality however, probably explains the emotional content that gets conveyed when Filipino singers perform their craft ...

Ivy Dee same here!!! I feel for you! I was with my mom on her death bed. I signed the DNR form so she'll not struggle anymore. I also miss my mom..this commericial made me cry also..

Ivy Dee sorry for your lost, my mum passed away two months ago bcuz of breast cancer. I'm 16 and I have my two young siblings (5 & 2y/o) It's hard to move on and still hurts asf, but we need to be strong. Godbless and stay strong x

Glad you guys were able to get the meaning of the story bcos some who do reaction videos didn't. Jollibee is a big part of the lives of Filipinos. There's several Jollibee branches in the US so you can try checking it out if you're anywhere near these cities: California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Illinois, Washington, and Virginia.

Yeah, I cried on this one when I saw it because I lost my father August last year. First Christmas, First New Year, First Valentine's Day without him and I will do that like the kid did! Jollibee chicken joy for my mom and roses!!! and not all commercials in the Philippines are like this. Just so happens that Jollibee wants to show different kinds of love -- happy or sad.

Filipinos do value family a lot, most of our commercial here are like those, we love to be emotional, our evening routine are mostly with our local drama series, and the mere fact that you were able to relate to us means a lot.. keep it up guys. We love you!

I am a Filipino residing in the Philippines. Jollibee ads portray how a typical Filipino person or family is. We are family oriented and have very close family ties (Date and Almusal), loving, persevering and selfless (Vow and Crush) and so much more. We make beautiful memories in Jollibee. Memories that will never be forgotten for as long as we live. Memories that you want to go back to over and over again. That's why Filipinos love Jollibee!!!!

This simply shows how Jollibee has been an integral part of most filipino lives. I guess what it meant was love knows no boundary that even after death we still love and feel the love one expresses to us.

I'm so proud to say that I've met one of the people who made those Jollibee commercials possible. He gave a talk at a marketing seminar that we conducted in school and he really is brilliant (He did it for free too!) That is what you call realities of life and how you deal with it. Kudos to Jollibee for choosing stories that were quite unpredictable, things you never thought it would end up like that but all in the name of love e.g. love of a best friend (vow), love of a husband to his wife (crush) and love of a son to his mom (date).

i have also cried on this commercial in a train. commercials here are somehow funny or sad or a rollercoaster ride of emotions

Great reaction. This commecial shows the reality of life. It's typical to have a fun commercial but I think Jollibee is also trying to show the other side of life, the sadness and the pain.
