Yes! This should be promoted. I don't understand why they speak broken English when they can proudly speak their local language. We have seen that this is very common in football where even the very top players don't speak English but respond in the language in which they are comfortable

What you said doesn’t make any sense. What he did isn’t out of cricket rules. Who take the ultimate decisions among them, off course the umpires. And according to 4th umpire, Angela’s time already ran out before the issue of helmet. I’m pretty sure if it was their teams in the place of BD, their narratives would have been different. Shakib was within his rights to appeal. It's in the law. When yorkers and bouncers were first bowled, they were also seen as "not in the spirit of the game". Spirit of the game is a blurry concept; that's why we have standard laws. Angelo, as a professional cricketer, should know the laws of the game on which his career depends. Yes, maybe the umpires made the wrong call if 10 seconds were left, but that's not Shakib's fault.

You cannot say it is not Shakib's fault. Angelo had mentioned that the umpires asked Shakib twice if he wanted to go ahead with the appeal for the dismissal since he was the one who raised it. Shakib said yes to both times, that he wanted Angelo out. So a pretty big potion of the fault rests squarely on his shoulders.

He is praising other guy for translating such a long answer. It is difficult to remember all the things a person say in one language and repeat it in foreign language after translating it. Also they are interviewers not commentators.

It doesn't matter if it's a top batsman or not (just because Angelo is not from India doesn't mean he is not a good batsman), doing that to any batsman is wrong, especially since the batsman was on the crease within the 2-minute time frame with 10 seconds to spare.

Angelo is a class player; a senior and experienced man; probably playing his last game. I feel that Banglas were cheap.

Not surprised by actions of Shakib and Bangladesh team, they will stoop low. It has never been a class team over the years. Too many classless events to mention.

was matthews causing the delay intentionally? No. Its something that happened which was out of his control. Even the time he took from the pavilion to the field was timed at 1min 54-55 seconds so there were 5 -6 seconds left when he found out that his strap was broken and asked for a change immediately. He even explained it to the umpires and umpires asked Shakib twice for confirming the appeal and he still did. I mean thats pathetic.

Nothing wrong what Shakib did. You can't blame a guy for playing by the rules. Generosity can be taken, never demanded. He has all rights to go by the rules and as a captain, he has worked in the best interest of his country winning. I feel for Angelo Mathews, esp not playing first few games of his last worldcup (most probably) and esp after a humiliating loss to India where he is pumped up to contribute. But as long as he doesn't follow a rule, he will be penalized. Imagine if team is penalized for slow over rate and loses the match due to that penalty, nobody would complain. However cruel that is. It doesn't matter if there is an equipment failure or bowler has to take a look break, a delay is a delay. This is a similar case to that.

That's the thing. This was outside of the rules. The rules mention that the batsman has to be on the crease within 2-minutes of the previous dismissal. Angelo was on the crease with 10 seconds to spare. You're mentioning slow overrates and penalizing. There was an instance where a Bangladeshi batsman forgot his ball guard and went back to get it, but Sri Lankans never raised the issue. There is a video where you can see they were laughing at the fact that he forgot it in the first place.

Kohli, jadeja, maxwell and countless others still play spinners with their caps when facing spinners. I dont understand what’s mathews stand here? Is it rules or spirit of the game or safety. He has to choose something and not just ramble anything to make his point. Rules and safety is not an issue here whatsoever and somebody who’s questioning that does not know the game of cricket. If its the spirit of the game then there can be a debate. Personally, if there is a rule and I have an opportunity to get an important batsmen out in a world cup when there’s a tournament participation on the line(champions trophy), even I’m not withdrawing the appeal. Either don’t give such opportunities to the opposition or else don’t cry later about it.

Srilanka has lost the game against the Bangladesh , now they are crying about it. Don’t forget, under the cricket laws - Shakib did the right thing which has been constituted by the ICC . Such law is applicable to all the cricket team regardless their sadness or goodness. 😂😂😂
