Kuryakyn Sound Bar Review
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Kuryakyn's Sound Bar made in conjunction with MTX is easily the best sounding and most low profile choice for music on your motorcycle. It doesn't just fit Harley Davidson's either. Mount it up to your Indian, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, or any other 12 volt system that you can think of. Own a 4 wheeler? Wish it had music? Check the video to hear what 300 watts of power sounds like!

I was just looking into these a day ago. I happened to find this review and now I'm buying one. Thanks brother!
Thank you, this video actually gave a good description and actually shows how good the sound is while riding and I am for sure getting one now
Congrats John for reaching a milestone on your channel! Keep doing awesome learning, informative and ride videos!👍👍
Cheers on the 100k subscribes John Maxwell. Nice it was while riding your own bike. Always love the channel. Thank you
Sweet! Like the channel and the sound bar. May purchase one for my breakout soon. Looking forward to the install vid! Keep them coming man!
Just noticed...Congrats On 100K !! I still love to hear the old v-twin thump...might be getting old. Have friends who blast the tunes, so to each they're own
That beginning put a awesome smile on my face this morning!
Holy crap John almost 100000 subs! Good for you!
Most of the time I like the tunes. Sometimes its nice just hearing the bike rumble. Have Kuryakan Road Thunder pods, they work well. Nice having volume and function control at my thumb.
Good to know. I want a sound system for my bike so thanks for review. Sometimes I want to hear music while I'm riding other times I'm fine without it.
Very clear Audio. Worth every cent
First time viewer, great review ... based on your road test just picked up the speaker! Thanks and ride safe brother!
Swear you read my mind sometimes. Was just thi king about these sound bars for the bike and how they perform! Good video!
I love that when I looked these speakers up online, on their site it's a link to this video as their page review video lol
I have the same one on my road King and it sounds absolutely amazing and it is loud as hell worth the money!!
I'm happy you a review on this item. Thank you, now I know it would sound on my bike.
John Maxwell I have been shop n these for my 13 FatBoy for a while torn between pods and HDs boom and this one . I don’t have the money obviously for H-D so this one and pods were my options . With that said You have sold me my brother on this . Thanks so much for all you do for us Riders . This will sound an look so good head n down to Biketober . Keep it up . Ride on .
Hitting the mountain roads here in northeast georgia when call me the breeze comes on is one of the best feelings one can have
Wow, been a while since I had time to catch up on your videos, but damn your channel grew fast, John... 100k🤘 Congrats, brother!! Here's to the next 100k 🥃
100k subs!!!!!! Congrats Bro, you deserve it
Just ordered one for my dyna. 🤘 looking forward to the install vid.
Spot on.... I'm going to get one now, thanks John!!!!
I bought the JBL cruise speakers for my bike after seeing it on youtube . Great sounding even at 70mph +/- without a windshield. But then after being on for more than 2 hours continuously at max volume it started clipping and getting really hot and then it went into protection mode and turned itself off. Disappointed with the speakers. Decided to just mount an use it on the Honda Ruckus scooter. Bought me a Shoei NeoTech II and that's the best investment I made for tunes and protection. Always great to see your reviews John.
Seen those speakers and often wondered about how they sounded. Thanks for the review.

Interesting, I’ve never considered fitting anything like that to my bike, until now! I do prefer to ride without music most of the time but I’m also with you on the opinion that there’s a time and a place for music sometimes and I love to listen to music when riding sometimes. Thanks for the review man.
So when I get my speeding ticket; I'll just tell the cop that John Maxwell said i had to go fast to get the best sound!! Lol

Ironic you say that. I had a sportster, went to a bagger for 2 years, and went back to a sportster. I was comfortable on the bagger on long trips but I could never get to comfortable on it around town and the weight was always a bit much. Luckily for me I got rid of the bagger and didn't lose as much money as I thought I would have.

Jacob James as far as riding around town a little bar hopper like a sporty is fine. But if you wanna log any miles a bagger is the only way to go. I ride 30-40K miles a year and will ride nothing but and have had the sporty, Dyna and Softail. Nothing like a bagger when it comes to comfort and everything else.
Holy Shit John! I remember when you looking to hit 1K subscribers...100K, Congratulations!!!!!! Keep up the Great Vids!!!!

John, Another Good Video. The Sound Bar sounds good. Nice option if you want music.
I feel ya JM I love the tunes also and I’m liking that speaker. It never fails, when you are ready for the down pour it goes somewhere else and cheated you out of a chance to ride😢
sorry but im not even a harley guy and i still like to watch your channel.. good job keep up the good work.
I love that when he said "so my plan for today is to get some of these bikes out of here" the guy in the back just started laughing out loud XD

Thankyou been thinking of getting one for two years, wasn’t sure
Good tunes thanks for the great review I'll pass it on to my buds
I often ride with music playing through headphones... one of the most amazing feelings I've had when riding is black label society's rendition of "America the Beautiful" coming on
With FF helmet, helmet speakers are by far your best option. I ride with earplugs anyway, was stupid enough for long enough to ride without them, and now have mild tinnitus. With earplugs and good helmet speakers, you get best of both worlds - reduced wind noise, and good sound.

The helmet speakers take all surrounding sounds out for me. I can’t hear the bike, or vehicles around me. Makes me nervous!
Great review dude. I've been wearing headphones for tunes. but I think I want one of these speakers
Great video John! Looking to get me that Heritage soft tail.
You sold me on trying one for my 2019 117ci fatbob bagger!
Never wanted a radio until I had one. Now I'm kinda getting use to Pandora. Good review
Excellent review my man. Keep it up.
Well It does work.....and here Ive just picked up an FLTCU and updated the original sound with a Jensen marine stereo....but I can put one of those Kuryakyn speakers on my Intruder!
Sounds great! might have to pick one up for my Dyna!
I have run a board on sound systems on a bike... Started out with ear buds and a Walkman.. ran the earbud wire inside my shirt and Velcro the Walkman to the tank dash divider... After all these years of XM and handlebar speakers and touring built ins with amps and speaker upgrades...I am nearly back where I started.. I use the Harley wired headset and get along fine at any speed...
Congratulations John on 100k subscribers!!!! Joe Zednick Ocala Fl.
Good morning John Maxwell, Have a great day, There is still snow on the Rocky Mtns here in Western Colorado, Im going to fix the fence for a little bit, then Me and Momma are going to take a run. ( We went to Grand Junction Co last April to meet a friend for lunch, Came home four hours later with a HD Tri Gluide lol, ) Ive learned a lot from your channel. Keep up the good work, Aaahhh , the heck with the fence, maybe tomorrow lol, Its time to fire up .
Congrats on the 100k
Ordered! Will be bringing the Chollo in soon for install!
John thanks for the great vlog. This setup will be perfect for my 15 Heritage. I would say 50 50 sometimes Music sometimes not. Be Cool and Ride Safe🇺🇸🏍 Thanks Again.
Welp, I'm sold. I use to think I was a purist, but sometimes music makes a long trip enjoyable. Thanks for the review
I love music almost as much as my M8 Road Glide. When I listen to music on the bike I listen through a $60 set of earbuds. I love my eardrums, too, and years of riding through the wind has taken its toll. Besides, I really don't like to pull up to or along side a vehicle that has a sound system thumping and blaring in everyone's ears.

Good video thanks for sharing and i like music on road trips
Great video dude thanks!
Love that Foghat!
Had one for almost two years now on my 2017 Softail (no fairing), over 20k miles. You can hear it great at slow speeds. At high speeds, with a 1/2 or 2/4 helmet, it is almost useless. One thing you didn't mention is that how well the music is mastered is a great factor; older CD's copied to your phone will provide a sound that is not too great. It looks great on my ride and am pleased with it.

The one you have is the older 150w version, too. This is the new 300w. Honestly, I didn’t even think about folks copying music to their phone. I’ve been rocking iTunes/pandora/Spotify for so long I didn’t even think about that! You are 100% correct, though!
Thanks for the review. Some good info
Slow Ride, take it easy ! Love it John ! 😎
Slow ride, take it easy, great song, great video, great soundest. I'm gettin one👍

Great review bra
Great video! Can you tell me what editing software you use for your gopro? I have a GoPro 5 hero black and can't get it to work with IMovie (MAC). Thanks. Keep up the great videos
Hey John. Love the channel. DO you think it is feasible to install on a sportster with the original iron handle bars? I mean would it look and fit nice? or would it look strange?
How did you mount your Sena speakers in your helmet? Mine press against my noggin and give me a headache. I have one of the "convertible" type Harley helmets. Almost makes me want to do away with my Sena. Ideas????
OK been shopping, gonna go for this one, I'll let you know
Hey John. I have the same speaker for almost a year now on my 18 Heritage. I love it!! Sounds great even though mine has Rinehart exhaust. Super Loud!! No problems so far.

Good aftermarket exhaust AND tunes. I’ve just got the exhaust for now. But, I think I’ll hold out on the music until I get my FXR fairing for my 21 FXLRS. I miss my 14 Street Glide.
Just got one. Would love to see the install video
Nice shirt man. I'm a flannel guy myself. Ride safe homie
John! Great video, could you do a walk around of your bike??
Sounds great.. would be curious on how sounds to passenger.. if its muffled any.. but over all sounds awesome
Exhaust. I enjoy my heritage so much! Harley got it right.

New sub,nice sound system
Foghat !!! Slow ride boy is that a blast from the past lol.. look at my man 99k subs right on brother,,, and as far as music i use bluetooth ear buds on my cvo dyna ,, just easier for me because the small air foil on the head light ,, and my bike is so dam loud i could hear it if i parked it at your house here in PA lmao... so yea ,, nice set up buddy.. and i to love a good jam while blasting down the highway..nothing like it..
That's pretty cool. I like how small it is. Hardly noticeable.
I saw all those churches on your ride to work and just knew you were in the Bible Belt lmao, didn’t know you’d be so close to home! Great review!

Hey, great video, a friend of mine rides with a waterproof Bose speaker. Now if I may ask a question for your tech opinion. I’ve got an 08 Ultra Glide Classic, bought in January, in Buffalo, so it was stored. that the dealer just delivered the bike, Monday. Battery is nearly dead next day. Having a hard time getting it into neutral, and even when I start it with the clutch in the bike lurches forward. Yesterday there was smoke coming out of the left side of the engine behind the block. Definitely electrical. The dealers gonna pick it up. Any hear of anything like this?
Totally understand John, when I have my rain gear it doesn’t rain when I don’t it hails normally:-)

Right! So weird...
I love to have tunes on my bike. That said in town I love hearing a nice exhaust rumble. But on multiple hundred mike days I gotta have some tunes.
Love your channel, love your personality, love the comic twist on things. Now: Couldn't find the install video on the Kuryakyn Sound Bar. Having said that, I did purchase it based on your channel. Everyone else that has an install video in this item is not very detailed on install. What is the problem with everyone that does an install video on this item, there four wires and everyone show pos & neg, okay even I can do that, but, where do the other two wires go and why doesn't anyone talk about them and show where they go and what to do to install them. I have a 2019 Heritage Classic 114. My local Harley dealership won't touch this item at all, said they don't want to be responsible for any code it may through and cause damage since it's not a Harley Product.
Sounds pretty good, but forget the peak power, always an inflated unrealistic number. Look at the RMS output to give you an idea of how loud it can get in the real world.
I'd be all over this if they made a clip on remote for the left grip, instead of having to "gorilla arm" to reach the controls. Great review John!
Thanks for the video. Have been eying this speaker for a couple of months but hadn't seen any reviews on it. Saw a lot of reviews on the 150 watt speaker that stated at highway speeds there were sound issues. Looks like you removed your windshield bag. Was wondering if there is I way to mount it and keep the bag. I have the same model bike and use the bag a lot.
@TheHarleyTech

I was pretty bummed about the bag. My handlebar/clutch cable routing is a bit of an issue for me. I think I can make it better, but everything got installed about 2 days before Daytona! I haven’t had time to revisit everything.
Great sounds ! ..... But for me i'm a bit old school, its just me my machine and the elements ..and a clear mind ^^
