Shyam Bahadur would have turned a year older the very month he died due to a heat stroke while on election poll duty. He was one of the 14 home guards who died in a single day due to severe heat as they did their duties in a polling booth near Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. He leaves behind a son, a wife, and a daughter he wanted to ensure studied to become a beautician. Today his bereaved family says that except for a formal letter, no authorities or media have come to meet them. Harshit Sharma reports.

And EIC head Rajiv Kumar was reciting shayaris in the only press conference EIC held after elections. And he said that now EIC has learnt this lesson that elections shouldn't span this long in bad weather. People lost their lives for ECI officials (who sit in AC cabins) to understand this simple thing. Shameful and disgusting. Rich and powerful people have no concern for anyone!

Govt can't do, these chutia people will chant destruction of constitution. It can be done by E.C with effort of court. Why not court propose a law to pass? They are enjoying holidays !!!!
Shame on ECI for undermining the health hazards of the citizens due to the heatwaves and on top of that the compensation is also not adequate

A tragedy that should never have happened had the people in charge shown some interest and compassion for those poor men. While they sat in their air-conditioned or fan supplied rooms these poor men were forgotten. What a horrible way to die😢

The time has come to hold elections via mobile.when financial transactions worth billions are being carried out in online mode why elections can't be conducted online? The new generation is not at all interested in going to booth and stand in the hot sun to cast his or her vote.This is the very reason for low voter turnout.
