I played this game soo much when I got it for Christmas back in the mid-80s. The theme music and sound effects are embedded deep in my brain, I was able to remember them just from seeing the title of the game, over 25 years later. Such memories.

I remember clocking this game only the once on the 2600 when i was a kid, the score got to 999999 and then a whole bunch of ©©©©©© come up where the score should be and it just stops, good times, this and Tomcat F14 Flight sim were my first games.

I'm not even sure how a game like this was possible on the 2600.

It's actually a pretty simple game that the Atari can do pretty easily technically. To get around the 2 sprite limitation, they used what's called the NUSIZ hardware registers in the TIA chip, which duplicates sprites on the screen in a certain order, which is how they got multiple bad guys to come after him. To get the details in the levels, they use both the background and playfield colors line by line to get the illusion of 2 colors per line.

big sprites too. the bad guys moved too fast when you where walking the opposite direction. but hey, its all we had back then.

I always love seeing what could be forced out of such a dated and crap machine, very impressive.

when did this come out ? I had more than 50 2600 games and I would have loved this ! I wish I could take this game back in the past and give it to my younger self.

I remember that the hit detection became unforgiving as the game got super fast. And I really hated those black bee things. So hard to get a kick or punch to make contact with them.

This was supposed to be one of the most taxing games ever made for the 2600. If Atari had quality control for all games made for their consoles like this the entire time the game crash most likely would have never happened.
