I am lucky to have lived in this era to listen to this great musician. I invited him to sing in BHEL Haridwar for employees benifit.How lucky I am !

I was very young when I heard the news of KUMAR ji's demise from my parents and I still remember my parents said it is very early KUMAR ji passed away, to be honest I did not understand anything about the loss my parents were speaking but as I child in my memories I still have those pictures/sketch's from KESARI newspaper and news all over. It is after so many years of listening to classical music, I understand what my parents were speaking about the loss, also feel sorry I couldn't hear him live.Many hearty thanks for uploading this recording.

Beautiful and mesmerising!!! I always hear Kishoriji’s Bhoop... and love it...! Today, I fall in love with Bhoop all over again...! Had goosebumps several times during the rendition. Brought back my childhood in a flash, listening to Panditji with my father , a huge fan of his.. live and on spools .. live recordings of his from various programs, gifted to my father by various friends and associates. Thank you Sir for uploading this precious recording.

Thank you for sharing this I remember years ago Coming to India & buying loads of cassettes & listening to them constantly. This is a real gem actually seeing an amazing classical singer singing so devinely. 🙏

He has poured his heart out in connecting the listener to the Lord within. Pure Bhakti. Each bandish represents an invaluable gem in the Treasure Chest of Eternal Music, archived for all, and accessible to all. As time passes we shall explore each line of the Bandish for its higher subtle meaning.

Kumar Gandharva was a gift from God to this world.

A prodigy who enthralled all with his singing when just after getting over infancy (recordings are there as proof), had all along been a very special one and also incomparable. A BLESSED ONE in true sense.

Was lucky to see, know and accompany him in his only trip out of India to France with his many fine musicians and confidantes. Sheer magnetic genius!

You were lucky indeed, but a small correction: France (1985) was not his first trip out of India. Way back in the late 1940s or early 1950s, he was invited to East Africa by his fans there, where he and his first wife Bhanumati gave a number of concerts. Re-recordings of these (including at least one solo performance by Bhanutai) are available in some private collections.

I am fortunate to record Kumarji live during concerts organized by AIR in 1970 to 1982. I got familiar with the Classical music as and when I got opportunities to witness the legendary artists performing in the studios.

@@debmalyar but these dislikes are from human beings! What category do they fall in ? If I do not understand Michaelangelo then do I denounce him? Would that be human? Humans should possess some attributes of the species at least! The dislikes are from those who look like humans but are bereft of human qualities.
