KUANA TORRES KAHELE Na Vaqueros 2012
Музыка
From his bestselling debut solo CD, Kaunaloa, Kuana Torres Kahele presents Na Vaqueros. The original song from Kuana, is half spanish and half Hawaiian and talks about the Spanish cowboys that were commissioned by King Kamehameha to come to Hawaii to teach the Hawaiians how to cattle herd. It speaks of those Vaqueros and the beautiful Spanish women they brought with them that stole the hearts of the Hawaiian paniolos.
Nominated for the 2012 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Song of the Year. We humbly request your consideration as this year's choice. Mahalo Nui.
Kuana Torres Kahele's KAUNALOA CD available in stores and on iTunes now. Support Hawaiian Music.

Aloha Kaiulani: I am writing to you from Guadalajara, Mexico. I have been studying Hawaiian culture and spirituality for a little over two years and the truth is that I am in love with the islands and this study that I am doing inspired me to write my first book. I hope you will allow me to keep in touch with you. Mahalo Do you speak spanish?

When my dear friend/sister who is fighting cancer heard this song and thought this song was written for me. My husband and I have horses and he is a Mexican Vaquero and I am a Spanish Hula dancer. So I choreographed this hula for her. It is a bueatiful song to dance to, it makes everyone smile. Mahalo Nui for this Kuana.

What a wonderful song and a great history lesson to how Hawaii welcomed Mexican/Spanish culture as we created the Paniolos.

Spanish immigration to Hawaii began in 1907 and continued until 1913, at which time more than 9,000 Spanish immigrants had arrived in Hawaii with their families most went to work on sugar plantations, but some went to work with cattle on ranches, and Portuguese immigration to Hawaii began in 1878 until 1911 nearly 16,000 Portuguese immigrants had arrived mainly from the portuguese islands of Madeira. Mexican Cowboys came to Hawaii in 1832 to work with the cattle, so i suppose yes the Mexicans were the first to come over and work with the cattle but not the only ones,
I love this song! It speaks to my Spanish and Mexican roots and my love of beautiful Hawaii and her music! Thank you so much for this and the other beautiful songs I have heard here.

Wow Im reading all the Comments. This song shows all the good that came about. The Vaqueros with the cattle. As a Part Native American to California. And part Chicano. Never born or been to Mexico. My Wife's bloodlines are from The Big Island. Shes related to Parker ranch and royalty. The Panilolo Is the best example Of a Coyboy from Hawaii. Please respect that culture

The vaqueros who came to Hawaii were NOT Spanish cowboys! They were MEXICANS, who spoke Spanish. A Spanish cowboy is from SPAIN! The vaqueros who came to Hawaii were from MEXICO!

exactly, they brought cattle to hawaii and the cattle started killing the hawaiians because they didnt know what to do with them, but the mexicanos taught the hawaiians how to heard and take care of them. Mexicans are the first cowboys, then Hawaiian, and then last are the american cowboys.

more than 9,000 Spanish immigrants went to Hawaii between 1903 and 1913, to work with cattle and as labourers with sugar cane etc. that may have had some spanish influence on the hawaiian people , maybe some mexicans also went to hawaii, im not saying they didnt ,

@Slam Jamz Hawaiians absolutely knew how to kill and stop the animals but were forbidden to do so under Kingdom penalty of death. Learn the close relationship history between The Kingdom of Hawaii and Mexico. If fact, research back to Polynesians and indigenous America interactions during early Azteca and Maya periods.
What a surprise to see John Adams Cummings and his wife on horseback in your opening scene. Not paniolo for sure. Beautiful song, just so enjoyable.

The Hawaiian Monarchy would not have allowed any Polynesians to be enslaved, as it was outlawed and punishable by death. If any Hawaiians were taken to Puerto Rico, then it was by choice, not by force.
