Dan TheMan loooouuuud!!
I went on exchange to this wonderful university for a semester from Australia. I left almost 5 months ago, and I still miss this place like I left yesterday! Returning next year for a visit, because I loved KU so much. You just can't find school spirit like this anywhere else
UK wildcat here. I gotta say that this is incredibly cool and haunting.

The alma mater song is cool but the Rock Chalk chant is stupid.
I'm a Husker through and through, but DAMN it gives me goose bumps to hear that! I had a buddy drag me to a game in Lawrence one time, and i had a blast. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!
As a Current Jayhawk, I must say, this is my FAVORITE part of going to any of our sporting events!! Gives me chills at basketball games cause allen fieldhouse really echos. KU revolves around basketball and it's amazing how many students come, good thing I've got season tickets!!(: RCJHKKU!!
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK GO KU i'm glad we have a great coach like bill self, its men like him who prove just how great KU really is
Just watched them win the national championship tonight and is a night to remember. ROCK CHALK
By the way, the Rock Chalk Chant was meant to instill fear by being a stark contrast against the cacophony and craziness of a sporting event. It serves as a haunting "funeral song" for the losing team. Adding a "whoo" between verses breaks the haunting atmosphere and ruins the goosebump effect the chant is meant to create. Whooing originated from rival fans trying to break the chant up, and it should never have been adapted by the students. TL;DR: Don't "whoo."
nothin but love for my hometown. rock chalk jayhawk♥️
You only know this feeling if you've been to a game in AFH
1958 Jayhawk grad here. Always loved the Rock Chalk chant, though we did it slightly differently than what is done now. As for the Alma Mater hymn, my high school--College High School at Central Missouri State--used the same tune with similar words. The tune is widely used, and just sounds great as an Alma Mater hymn.
And it's 2022 , and their in the final 4 again go Hawks !!!!
Dang. You know you're a Hawk fan when you get shivers during the Rock Chalk Chant!
I wonder if I should transfer here after my second year at Johnson County Community College. What do you think +The University of Kansas? I'm planning to double major in math education and computer science

+The University of Kansas Jayhawk! Kuuuuuuuuuu
I get the impression that KU is still steeped in tradition and love of school and state. This is how the program that I loved most all my life (UK) _used_ to be. Now, UK is a sterile, one-and-done NBA robot factory, with no heart and soul, at least, with not _nearly_ as much soul and heart as it used to have, much less tradition. How you gonna have players you grow to love, and who learn to love your state and heritage when they only stay a year or two? Because of this, I lost interest several years ago. I just may become a KU fan. After all, that's Adolph Rupp's alma mater, and the basketball program was founded by none other than Dr. James Naismith. I think I could enjoy being a Kansas fan.
Dump the "whoo" -- it takes away the scary-as-all-hell aspect of the chant. Done correctly, it's the most intimidating team chant there ever was. I'm sure it helped win a lot of games. Sure gave me goosebumps every time I ever heard it from the floor of the fieldhouse.
I love that, I get chills down my spine, every time, i've heard it a gazillion times, but daMN, the goosebumps!
I'm no Kansas fan but that has to be one of the coolest chants ever!!!
This is easily the best chant in all of college basketball.
As a Gator; I can only imagine how INTENSE it must be to be in Lawrence for the KU-Mizzou basketball game! Good luck, Jayhawks!
congrats! wishing you all all the best! Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!
This made me cry
This is cool as shit. I'm a Fsu fan. Ain't better than the war chant though. All respect. Love y'all. Love FSU. Love KU. But we rich, garnet and gold. 💯
the 'KU' ending is always epic
All the best to you guys. I LOVE that chant. It is epic.

I'm actually a born and raised Florida Gator fan and this chant is just sooo...haunting.
That song is the song for Shawnee Mission North's school song and they even do the lifting of the arms. Funny.
KU class of 2015 baby!! can't wait to go to those games at the allen fieldhouse
love it
West Virrginia fan, but must admit... that's badass... oh, and I'm from Philly, so you can thank us for Chamberlin... :P

You can think the generosity of KU for accepting and embracing positive changes for all :)
Through the upset losses, to winning the championships, forever a KU Jayhawk fan!
I'm a Kentucky fan since birth but I have tremendous respect for the KU tradition. After all, coach Rupp came from Kansas! Going to the Phog is definately on my bucket list
has to be one then best venues for college basketbll in the nation. It's on my bucket list to go to a game at the field house and listen to that live has to be amazing.
Being a WVU fan, as much as a hte to say it that's one of the coolest chants ever!
I know. My dad is an Alum. BUT... I live in Michigan, and I'm a full time student. So a trip like that is difficult and expensive. But I will make it before I'm 25, I swear. I've been to the campus at Lawrence and I was completely impressed. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK KU!!!
the alma mater gives me chills
I was at the OU-KU football game this year. I have say that it is cool to hear 50,000 perple do that.
Far above the golden valley Glorious to view, Stands our noble Alma Mater, Towering toward the blue. CHORUS: Lift the chorus ever onward, Crimson and the blue Hail to thee, our Alma Mater Hail to old KU.
im proud to be a jayhawk!
luv it
Always Wanted To Go To KU. Now, Instead Of Wichita, Kansas. I Live In Dallas, Texas. And It Is Still My #1 Choice. Rock Chalk Forever Baby!!
What the heck? I'm not denouncing KU! Why are you guys giving me thumbs down? Don't be so touchy... I'm a die-hard KU fan! I live in MICHIGAN for crying out loud!
husker fan... converted to jayhawk. living in oliver this fall BUT THERE'S NO WOO AT THE END! IT DEFEATS THE EERIE FEEL!
diehard Gator fan and I have to say---this is the most haunting chant in all of college basketball.
respect from a cameron crazie. Rock Chalk is one of the most haunting chants in all of sports...
Chills.
That is one deadly chant. Rock Chalk!
I also am a lifelong Gator fan--and this chant is just beyond intimidating...it's haunting.
whoooooooooooooo ROCK CHALK!!!!!!! this is our year!!!!!
there no better sound! ROCK CHALK! when u look back on the history and tradition it mind blowing! "theres no better place to coach, theres no better place to play, theres no better place to go to school. ROCK CHALK" -- Larry Brown
here just after the title game! So surreal :' )
Hard to believe my cohort's ending their time in colleges and unis across the world. I'd like to visit Allen Fieldhouse someday too, while I'm still young ;)
@killswitch445 I lived in McCollum 2000-2002. Loved that dorm. If not that one, stay in one of the 5 atop the hill. There's so many students in that area it's really fun. Live it up, I wish I could go back in time!
What an excellent video. I may not go to KU, but I have intention of attending a game in Allen Fieldhouse.
Ive herd The Rock Chalk Chant in real life and it give me chills
in which yall lost at home and on the road to a really great team and a good team. yall might win it my heels might this year but next year will be on our. we also got a great alma matter song.
Ku National champion
Go Jayhawks!
I'm a 1993 Alum, and I think my key faub says it all "Once a Jayhawk, Always a Jayhawk". Even though I went to Law School in Richmond, VA, I never attended 1 sporting event there, preferring to remain true to the Crimson and Blue! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK, GO KU!!!
totally in this video when they show the student section!
This and 95 cents will get you a cup of coffee in the real world
proud to be a jayhawk
@aalcaine Im lookin into housing too, and I would recommend Ellsworth.
national championship here we come !
Very impressive. The alma mater is Cornell's if I am not mistaken but none the less well done by KU. This song is the ultimate Collegiate song there is by far. Rock Chalk Chant is very haunting, I can imagine for opposing fans. I know it is to the Tech basketball team as I don't think we have ever played a game there closer than 20 points. :(
2022 NCAA National Champions 🏆 ROCK CHALK JAYHAWKS "BEWARE THE PHOG!"
I hate KU you and i still get the shivers! Its a really cool thing, in my opinion.
4/4/2022, when another NCAA Champ flag is about to be hung in the house after many, I am here to listen KU Chant again!
Agreed! I was glad to see that the most recent game had very little "whoos" during the chant.
Go Jayhawks
Kellermans anthem?
I am so excited i am transferring there. Quick question how much are tickets to games.
Hi - Im KU Alum 1993. I absolutely luved it. Beautiful campus, very good. profs, decent food in Union, Earth Day w/concerts on "The Hill", getting thrown in "Potter's Lake" and, most of all - BASKETBALL (after all, BBall WAS invented there by Dr. James Naismith, who nailed peach baskets on the walls for buckts - he wanted 2keep Fball playrs in shape durin KS wintrs. If you d//n do anythng, camp out for a BBall game, drink Rasp.Wheat Beer @ Mass. Ave. Brewry. Best of luck-ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!
@renegadereposter what is north iowa?
national championship type beat
Woot woot!
i went to THE LEGENDS OF THE PHOG yesterday and i swear i thot i was the biggest KU fan EVER but after that IM AN EVEN BIGGER FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
class of 2015 Jayhawk here(: so excited!!! what residence hall is best? any thoughts??
I'm a Florida Gator fan and whenever I hear this, i think of 1 word...HAUNTING.
isnt the alma mater the song from dirty dancing?
i am the biggest ku fan
@mdawwg17 Thanks! I love Alabama and KU. They're 2 of my top 5 favs. 1. KU 2. Wichita State 3. Miami 4. Oklahoma State ( P.S. Definatly gotta change that ) 5. Alabama Rock Chalk! Go Shocks! Go U! Go Pokes! and Roll Tide!
Great news, Jayhawk Nation! U.S. News annual rankings of U.S. Colleges and Universities for the 2013/2014 school year have KU moving up to #101 in their polls, up 4 from 2013!. Kiplinger's annual review only rates the top 100 schools and KU didn't make the cut, but stay tuned for 2014/2015 school year - we may break into the top 100!
Not to denigrate KU here, but the tune is the same as Indiana's alma mater "Hail to Old IU," right down to the key of A-flat that they play it in. I'd be curious as to who wrote it first, Indiana or Kansas.
I love the Rock Chalk chant during games.
It doesn't get much crazier than that even when the Mizzou teams suck like usual. I was at a game in 2007, it was actually a really close and a really good game for once. Of course the Jayhawks prospered as usual.
AFTER 2ND LINE... SILENCE... PAUSE... LOUD BASS DRUM... Then "Hit it!!" Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU - 3 times quickly.
The best school
huge kansas fan! will be attending hopefully after next year as a junior college transfer. quick question- when was allen fieldhouse built? was it around when chamberlain played?
the best😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄☺☺☺☺☺☺😊☺😆😊😅😆😊😆😆😊😊😊😊😊😊😊☺
@rsb023 That's the performing arts one right? my plan is to go into the Film program so would that be a good fit?
@renegadereposter maybe you have to be there but it's something even if you're not in the field house. Fun Fact: many years ago the national basketball team (I think? not sure about the group) met The Pope who asked to hear an American sports cheer and This is what they decided to perform. So obviously KU fans aren't the only ones who like it.
is sounds like Hark the Sound from UNC

A lot of schools have "Annie Lisle" as their alma mater. Cornell is credited for being the first.
If you "Woo" during the chant, please leave the arena
i used to believe this is best. that is until i heard utah states student section
its not the chant before the game.... its the one during it towards the end
Jayhawks all the way! :D
@VicerExciser5 It starts at 1:05
