I have a 2020 Street Triple RS and it has been flawless for over 7500 miles in put on it already! Fantastic bike but the Bluetooth module isn't the greatest but it will get better with time. The only real problem I've had is a small oil weep on the right engine case but that will be covered by warranty to fix it over the winter when I can't ride. I had a 2013 before that and it was great, one of my favorite bikes out there and all my friends that have rode it wish they haven't because now they want one lol

@@brentcameron4494 You pay for the “Performance package” aka plug it into a computer and it activates. I see your struggling with this one. Imagine buying a house with a room that’s completely locked. You can have the House for this much but if you want this extra room it will cost you an extra ‘x’ amount. The house already has the room so chances are you’re going to pay the ‘x’ amount regardless of how much it is. It’s a psychological sales tactic. You can’t just buy an aftermarket quick shifter, you have to buy the “package” with all the other electronic aids for a higher overall price. Triumph give you 3 options for the bike, that only come with what you pay for.

I think it'd be interesting to compare the specifications of the ktm890 and an original 916 Ducati. I know things move on over the years, but it would give you an idea of just how lively that ktm is. If they made an RC390-style sportsbike, it'd be a heck of a track day weapon. The 2020 one is now a super techy and refined bike which I think Triumph have done to satisfy new riders with it being predictable/ safe but still having enough oomph to keep people happy. The Triumph has the unfortunate 'issue' of having a bit too long of gearing. You two were talking about how lethargic it feels, and I have to agree, on my 2019 ST-RS it felt the same on stock gearing, it always took a bit to get up in revs. However, all of that changed when I put a 15 tooth front sprocket on it. Feels like the bike was originally designed with that sprocket in mind. Always ready to go now, no lag.

Unless you are a very hardcore rider or doing a lot of trackriding the fully adjustable Showas will be more than enough... I have ridden multiple bikes and i could not care less for a lack of tft dash...you also get the buttery smooth QS up/down which in my way works better than the one on KTMs. And all this for 8900. A simple exhaust mod will get you back the few ponnies missing from factory... Only my thoughts .. nice review!

This is the question everyone has been asking! This middle/upper weight naked conversation is really going to get interesting once the 660 Tuono rolls around too. Side note; I have noticed the resale price of the 790's dropping quite quickly after launch (if one cares about such things) to the point where you can get a sub 5000 mile 690 for less than 6 grand.. whereas a comparable ST clears 7 grand on autotrader regularly. Just a passing thought.

Even though i am Austrian and this is kind of blasphemy here, i would pick the STR over the Duke any day. Love my 2010 which has already 63000km on the clock. What an awesome bike!

Ridden both extensively - that refinement on the triple engine, high speed stability, exhaust bark after 8K rpm and supple ride, just all so much better. If you can have only one bike, which you will ride around town as well and not ONLY canyon carving and track racing, Triumph, for me, is hands down the better bike.

After looking at the 765 and Duke 890, what you do is buy the new Speed Triple 1200 RS.

Which is exactly why I bought mine. The things they were faulting the RS for were the exact things I WANTED and the pros they were giving to the 890 were cons to me and why I didn't buy it. Weird review.

Yeah, for me I might up-scale to the Speed Triple vs the Super Duke. Both are visual knockouts, though to me the Speed looks a bit dated. Not cool retro like say the Kawi RS, but just 90s. I still don't know if I'm buying anything, though. Gettin' up in years and down in earnings (retired).

the KTM might be 10k at the moment, KTM winter sales will be sub 9k in 2021. So when at 1k less than the Triumph the KTM is the better buy.

I need to figure out how to introduce "ballbaggery" into my lexicon. I love triples and part of me wants to see the MT-09 up against the Street Triple, but then I realize that the MT is getting pretty old at this point and the suspension is designed to keep the MSRP low, not to properly suspend the bike. I mean, we can't even get the MT-09 SP in the States.

Pretty much and I don't ride motorcycles because I think it's a smart choice. I do it because I love it. Which is why the KTM is much more appealing. Though I bought a MT-09 back in 2017 and put fully adjustable Öhlins front and back.
