    Awesome video! ... if I didn't miss riding through these swampy woods on our old maico.... I definitely do now.. you could make that into a marketing video! It's that good!

    How did you set the suspension?

  • @nomading_in
    @nomading_in Жыл бұрын

    Do you adjust the suspension for off-road? Note some say they but don't see what settings are actually used front and back. I find mine good stock settings at relatively slow speed, but gets overwhelmed and jumpy when you start hitting things more aggressively.

    Just a little bit. I have the rear preload turned up, and I leave it there all the time. If I don't turn it up, I push through the stroke easier than I'd want while offroad, but it does make the on-road riding a bit rough on the spine. I do adjust the front when I am transitioning to offroad, but only if I am hitting some actual two trand or single track trails, at which point I dial the compression damping up. That's about it tho. If you really want to bomb it down trails hard, spoked wheels and some hyper-pro suspension would help.

    They are Motoz Tractionator Rallz tires, and they have been really good so far. I would definitely recommend them for offroading.

    What size Rallz did you go with? Also tube or tubeless?

  • @FreeTimeAdventures

    The Rallz size on this bike is 110/80-19 up front (stock is 100/90-19 so a little wider) and 130/80-17 rear (same as stock). They are tubeless in my application but can be run either tubed or tubeless.

    I have put about 90 miles on them on the road just in the last two days, and I can say they have some very good and surprising attributes. Pros 1. The breakover is very smooth and consistent. 2. The overall traction was great despite it being between 30 and 34 degrees and wet in some spots. 3. The edge knobs do not fold under when cornering reasonably hard, preventing that "tire squirm" feeling that is common with knobbies. Cons 1. There is a definite and noticeable howl between 40 and 50 mph. Above that, I mostly just hear wind noise as the howl fades out. 2. There is some vibration, which is most noticeable at slow speeds, but it is not very significant. Overall I like them a lot so far, they grip up well offroad even on slick clay in spots in this video and they carve corners better than any other tire with such an aggressive tread pattern thatnive used. I like them enough that I do intend to do a vlog style video and go more into detail about what I like and don't for these tires as well what I think the ideal use case is, so keep an eye out for that.
