I had the 310 GS for about 4 years & rode around 40k off kms. Changed now to the 390 adv. Recently did a long ride for 1000 kms with 2 1250 gsa's . I could never have imagined myself with the 310 riding alongside the bigger bikes. 310 - plush ride but really slow. Passive ride characteristic. 390 - Very active riding + feedback is great. Push hard and the bike rewards you like no other. 390 vs 310 are 2 very very different bikes meant for different riders. Nice video. Cheers to all & happy riding.

ok OK *OK!!!* It's a great bike. I get that.! ;) I love all bikes and have had many different types, but when I bought my first Harley I thought, "this is it, my love!" I will grow old and be burried with this bike. Then I bought a 390 and oh wow! Now, I _still_ love my Harley. It's the nicest bike I ever had, but the KTM 390 Adventure is so fun! My Harley is sitting in the garage more and more. I still do all my long trips on the comfortable Harley, but everything else seems to be more and more KTM. Thanks for the vid, S

Very nice information and relaxed presentation. Some of us are biased towards spoked wheels. You made a very logical and valid point there. Lighter bikes - that’s why motocross bikes are lighter. Easier to “correct” and control. Can’t correct a road roller, midair….😀 Glad you tour extensively too. In the end - the adventure is always BIGGER than the motorcycle/ car etc.

This is where I think Honda cb500x should have been priced around 5.50L, it would have been a better option than the KTM being Honda and a parallel twin, light and nimble with peace of mind in terms of reliability. A small stretch in budget would have made it a perfect option

  • @banestock

I think the KTM does more things better! The only advantage you're going to have with the meteor is that beautiful parallel twin. It's the only reason I bought the interceptor last year as opposed to the KTM adventure. I've ridden the KTM 390 single in all its iterations (duke, rc, adventure) and generations extensively and had reached the limit of the capabilities of that engine. Don't get me wrong it's a great platform and they have increased the refinement immensely over the years but at the end of the day it's a high strung single that will do only so much. The twin of re on the other hand has so much character and potential. But if your doing long tours or light off roading or going to Ladakh.. The KTM all the way or get an interceptor like me and modify to do what you want, that way you get best of both worlds! Cheers

The 390 alloys are pretty good and strong. I haven't heard of any tourer or explorer or traveler who's had trouble with it. Only for competition and racing one needs spokes. So I suggest that for all purposes of travel and exploring and causal amateur offloading, the alloys are good enough. Plus they come with the tubeless setup. Cheers!

I wear proper fitting riding gear, helmet and use cotton as ear plugs to reduce wind noise. And generally I workout or run or do yoga 3 times a week. And on ride days, I eat no more than 50% volume of what I normally eat. This works for me. Regards.

Heavier motorcycles give you a workout and improve your muscles. So you can save on gym membership. But seriously, i feel heavier bikes feel more planted when i ride them.. light weight makes it feel flimsy and overall doesn't give a good feel....
