KT Dragonfly First Impressions

Спорт

Testing out the KT Dragonfly 100L Downwind foilboard in heavy seas(not flat water). I think average weight of most wingfoilers here is 80kg to 85kg. The shop bought this board to test, because we have a gusty wave spot and it would be nice to be able to get up quick in the gusts on small foils and also get the feel of a small board. A normal set up to get into our wave spot if its a normal 15mph gusty day is a 75L to 90L, 6m-6.5m sail and a 1000 to 1400 square cm foil. Lots to talk about. The lightwind set up was a dream. Struggled a little when the wind got stronger and went to a smaller set up with the foil and wing. Some big take aways on how to ride the board in heavy seas. You really need to either get off the water quick or be prepared to push hard on the nose to keep it pointed a little off the wind. The board really wants to nose up into the wind. You also need to be quick to adjust more weight to your back foot the second this thing nose dives a wave. It submarines very quickly, but is easy to correct once you know how and now I almost never submarine it. This board does exactly what we needed it to do! It gets up on foil quick and once your up you just play the gusts. In fact this board is working so well that not only are we able to ride smaller foils but also smaller wings! I am 80kg able to surf on a 5m wing, 850 sk8, and the Dragonfly!
