I have to disagree . I think we are more emotionless now, men and women, than we were in the past. His dad maybe doesn't say I love you all the time, but i can see that he's a family oriented man. In case you've forgotten, his wife, JJs mom, is a pretty intense, emotional woman, super loving, yet super dominating in the house and loud lol his dads actually very quiet around her, but listens to her and truly loves her. That's only possible because he's a loyal guy, and accepts her for how she is.

theres also a cultural aspect to this. In most developing countries the onus is on the man to provide as best they can and mainly instil discipline, the affection and caregiving is left to the mother. When they move to the west the culture is different but no baby comes with a manual, people raise their kids as they have been raised most often.

To everyone saying they can relate to JJ, water always flows easiest downhill. It may be a great relief to let it all spill out, but it takes strength to maintain a family.

I tell my children I love them every single day and they tell me the same. ❤ My parents never told me they loved me. It’s something I strongly believe in and never wanted my family to be like that. ❤ Tell your kids you love them. That simple word can do so much for a child. ❤

It’s great that JJ didn’t hold hate in his heart for his Dad. Practicing empathy is extremely important. Teaching him how to love you - The hug and everything in between. Sometimes we think our parents know everything. They were brought up a certain way and only our empathy will help us open up to these conversations right here. They must’ve battled this in their minds for years yet it only took them a few minutes to truly connect. In the Doc, it is clear that to understand this concept though Deji. Their parents mentioned that Deji was different in the sense that they had no choice but to give him love cause he demanded that love. In turn they learnt to give it to him. Something they were not used to (especially the Dad). Really cool to watch. Loved the entire Documentary.

The way he communicates with his father is disrespectful on my own point of view. He is like the father in the relationship. No matter how much money you got, be respectful when you talk to your parents, not commanding them. FYI I’m one of KSI’s biggest fans.
