kse diev monochord zither - Phnom Penh
The monochord stick zither with a gourd resonator is called: kse diev ខ្សែដៀវ ou kse muoy ខ្សែមួយ. It has existed in Cambodia at least since the 7th century. Its practice almost disappeared after the Khmer Rouge period. since most of the musicians had been exterminated. Thanks to the tenacity of late master Sok Duch, several musicians of the young generation can now ensure its sustainability. Here one of the talented of them: Sinat Somnang.

Cithare monocorde kse diev - Phnom Penh
La cithare sur bâton monocorde à résonateur en calebasse est dénommée kse diev ខ្សែដៀវ ou kse muoy ខ្សែមួយ. Elle existe au Cambodge au moins depuis le 7e s. Sa pratique a failli disparaître après la période des Khmers Rouges. puisque la plupart des musiciens avaient été exterminés. Grâce à la ténacité de feu maître Sok Duch, plusieurs musiciens de la jeune génération peuvent désormais en assurer la pérennité. Ici l’un des plus brillants d'entre eux : Sinat Somnang.
